Gordon was pretty good all round including in attack.bonehead wrote:he was a solid defensive player and good goal kicker, didn't offer much in attack.BJ wrote:Michael Gordon at his peak was an above average first grader. Not a bad player at all.
Charnze has been top half of the comp fullback in his rookie season.

He is now my favourite footy player because of what he does on and off the field.
We've come along way since the Dugan and dorgeson days.
And I'm "big Kev " excited.

The spiral of silence refers to the idea that when people fail to speak, the price of speaking rises. As the price to speak rises, still fewer speak out, which further causes the price to rise, so that fewer people yet will speak out, until a whole culture or nation is silenced. This is what happened in Germany.
If you do not speak, you are not being neutral, but are contributing to the success of the thing you refuse to name and condemn.

He's proven to be a very good player but an even better person. I'm glad he's proven to be a good signing!
Now I'm not sure what tone you're posting in here Tim, if it's smug, sarcastic or cheeky, but I'm giving you the benefit of the doubt.
Now can we just move on, or are you going to bring this up ad infinitum?

It was a bit more than "reserved" though dubby. You didn't want either CNK or Simonsson to ever play first grade again, after a 21-0 round one win.

Simmonsen is not in the class of Rapana. Not even close.

Re: Canberra Raiders re-sign Charnze Nicoll-Klokstad to end 2023
$330k a season... wow. That is a great price. It could be argued that he's developing in his position but I was still expecting $500k+ based on the kind of money we've thrown at guys like Blake Austin in the past and on the type of deals fullbacks usually sign. To me that's a sign that players want to be at the Raiders and there is a sense of belief in the squad. Refreshing change from past years.

Yeah, it's still a bit of a risk for the Raiders as he's essentially a rookie. In saying that, it seems to be below the market price of many of his contemporaries.Raiders_Pat wrote: ↑September 6, 2019, 1:51 pm $330k a season... wow. That is a great price. It seems to me he has personally decided to take a bit of a reduction in the hope of keeping this squad together. Certainly seems that way based on the comments he has made. There is no doubt he could have got more on the open market.
I think we've struck gold with this guy.
Re: Canberra Raiders re-sign Charnze Nicoll-Klokstad to end 2023
I am very happy with the CNK contract extension. Quality player and person. Value for money too. I'm glad we are no longer throwing ridiculous amounts at average players. I hope we continue down the 'fair value' path.

Class act on and off the field
Re: Canberra Raiders re-sign Charnze Nicoll-Klokstad to end 2023
I've started rewatching Season 2019 as my off season entertainment. A yearly ritual.
I'm only a few rounds in but rumours of CNK's lack of ball playing ability may be greatly exaggerated. I'm only 4 rounds in (not watching losses unless I like the game for closeness) but he's already thrown the right pass for try involvements a few times + half way into Round 4 has taken good passes twice for tries already.
He kept it tight in the rain the first couple of rounds- smart play- but he's by no means a dummy (pun intended) in this department. Room to grow, sure, but good aptitude.
