Re: Canberra Raiders re-sign Charnze Nicoll-Klokstad to end 2023
This dude has turned into key contributor week in week out and is a major reason why we're sitting in the top 4. He is a winner.
What a turn of events in the career of a young fella who could've ended up a wasted talent on the heap! Just shows what determination and positive mindset can do.
Fantastic re-signing management hope CNK takes it to the next level in the finals, let alone next season!

Canberra Raiders fullback Charnze Nicoll-Klokstad re-signs on eve of NRL finals
The Canberra Raiders have landed a major retention coup on the eve of the NRL finals, re-signing Charnze Nicoll-Klokstad until the end of 2023.

Canberra Raiders media statement:
The Canberra Raiders have received a huge boost heading into the last home match of the regular season, with Charnze Nicoll-Klokstad extending his contract with the Canberra Raiders until the end of 2023.
Nicoll-Klokstad was currently on contract with the Raiders until the end of the 2020 season, however his wonderful debut season for the Raiders has seen him gain a three-year extension on his current deal, joining Joe Tapine as Raiders signed until the end of 2023.
A stunning debut season from Nicoll-Klokstad has seen him play all 23 matches to date, scoring 11 tries and cementing himself as the Raiders number one fullback.
Nicoll-Klokstad said that he's excited about the chance to re-sign with the club and was keen to build on his impressive start with the Green Machine.
"I'm really happy to be staying in Canberra. I still pinch myself every week that I get to play in the NRL and to get the opportunity to stay at this wonderful club for another four years on top of this year is fantastic,” Nicoll-Klokstad said.
“The big goal is to be the long-term fullback here. I know there is some stuff that I need to work on, and we have a big game against the Warriors this week as we look to build for finals.”
Raiders CEO Don Furner said the re-signing of Nicoll-Klokstad on a long-term deal gave both the club and Nicoll-Klokstad long term stability and said they would be looking forward to seeing him continue to develop his game for the club.
“Charnze has had a wonderful first season for the club after joining us late in the pre-season. He’s taken his opportunity with both hands and has established himself as an NRL player,” Furner said.
“We see him as our long-term fullback and it’s a credit to his dedication and work ethic to see him rewarded with this new deal.
“We believe the best is still yet to come for Charnze as he continues to work on his game and become a more experienced player at NRL level.”

The spiral of silence refers to the idea that when people fail to speak, the price of speaking rises. As the price to speak rises, still fewer speak out, which further causes the price to rise, so that fewer people yet will speak out, until a whole culture or nation is silenced. This is what happened in Germany.
If you do not speak, you are not being neutral, but are contributing to the success of the thing you refuse to name and condemn.

John Clarke: Old hat? Gina, in the scientific world when they see that something is happening again and again and again, repeatedly, they don’t call it old hat. They call it a pattern.

Re: Canberra Raiders re-sign Charnze Nicoll-Klokstad to end 2023
Normally I get a bit nervous about locking in a young player long term after a break out season, but in this case his performances have been the result of huge effort and great attitude. I suspect that will continue during his career, although he does need to look after himself a bit more out there at times. His poor body must be smashed.
Re: Canberra Raiders re-sign Charnze Nicoll-Klokstad to end 2023
I love how much he loves being here
If you listen to that interview he loves the place and the guys, and says the away bus trips are really great fun.

This article claims 330k a year

Surely the bargain of the century if true.

So, if $130,000 is correct for next year, that's $400,000 for the following three years, not the earlier reported $500,000.edwahu wrote: ↑September 4, 2019, 10:00 am This article claims 330k a year: https://www.foxsports.com.au/nrl/nrl-pr ... 25ea94fde2

The Fox Sports article. $330K x 5 years (life of his contracts) = $1.65m. Minus $260K (reportedly on $130K for this year and next) = $1.39m. Divided by 3 = a tick over $463K.greeneyed wrote: ↑September 4, 2019, 1:12 pmAccording to...Wiki Special wrote: ↑September 4, 2019, 10:58 am The new deal is for around $460K per from 2021-2023.

330k is average over the next 4 years.
"...after a breakout year, it can be revealed that the 24-year-old will be on an average salary of around $330,000 until the end of 2023."

CNK cut himself short there, hopefully there is some third party deals at play in the background

If he keeps going the way he is he'll be upgraded again this time next year
Re: Canberra Raiders re-sign Charnze Nicoll-Klokstad to end 2023
This guy is exactly the kind of player I love to see at the club! Humble, hard working and just in love with the club. Clearly the other players love playing with him and why wouldn't they? Watching him emerge this season has been a genuine highlight for me and I hope we enjoy many years of watching him grow and develop into an elite NRL fullback.
Re: Canberra Raiders re-sign Charnze Nicoll-Klokstad to end 2023
Exactly right. We’ve shown as a club that we will upgrade players before contract time if they are performing well. The Rickman wrote:If he keeps going the way he is he'll be upgraded again this time next year

Look, the guy is loveable and gives 100%. He is relatively safe and reliable. He's a passionate and dedicated person. It's great!
I'd compare him to a young Michael Gordon, or maybe even on par with Corey Thompson.
He's good. Really good.
But he's not worth throwing the bank at. He's no Tedesco, RTS or anything.
I'm hoping he can develop a good passing game, maybe a bit more pace and continue to improve before we get carried away into paying overs

If he were on par with Corey Thompson... wouldn’t that be reflected in their statistics? CNK is a clear step ahead.
Re: Canberra Raiders re-sign Charnze Nicoll-Klokstad to end 2023
Michael Gordon at his peak was an above average first grader. Not a bad player at all.
Re: Canberra Raiders re-sign Charnze Nicoll-Klokstad to end 2023
he was a solid defensive player and good goal kicker, didn't offer much in attack.BJ wrote:Michael Gordon at his peak was an above average first grader. Not a bad player at all.
Charnze has been top half of the comp fullback in his rookie season.
