Interesting that a guy named Laurie Daley wasn't good enough to oust Blake "Hey Look at Me" Austin

There is a reason that web page isn't regarded as highly as others.

In 1998, 1st yr of NRL, Raiders had blokes named:
Brad Clyde
Laurie Daley
Ken Nagas
Ben Kennedy (probably better at Knights and Manly, but still)
Brett Mullins
Ricky Stuart

Interestingly, also a couple of young blokes named Micheal Maguire and Anthony Siebold

I'm happy to leave out Ricky and Clydie because they only really played one season in the NRL, but Daley played up until Furner retired!

I suppose it comes down to how cut throat you are going to be with this.

I'm talking the best team in the NRL era, Daley makes it, hands down... the rest of those guys you've listed probably don't.

I can see players who played for us post 1998 that you could argue as being in their class, or influential enough, bar 1, the coach. No way is there another halfback that we have had that can beat him.

I'm not gonna argue with you about this one, Matt.

Let's just agree that you're wrong and move on.

Daley first player picked.
Papa and Wiki swap.
I'd have Leluia in for Wighton with Jack or Campo on the bench.
I'd probably go with Davico or Sia over Fensom since the bench is a bit light on.

If Monaghan is in the team, then might as well include Carney n Dugan

There’s a difference between Monaghan and those two which I can’t properly articulate on a family forum...

Austin over Daley is a joke. I’d have Campo on the bench. And probably TLL over Fensom too.
well, I guess you could say that I'm buy curious.

I honestly cannot remember Seibold playing for us!
Gina Riley: Oh, come on, John. That’s a bit old hat, the corrupt IOC delegate.
John Clarke: Old hat? Gina, in the scientific world when they see that something is happening again and again and again, repeatedly, they don’t call it old hat. They call it a pattern.

Well, not really. Monaghan was sacked, the other two walked out of the club and the raiders did the old “oh yeah? Well you can’t quit because I SACK you!”

Daley needs to be in that squad. Quite an odd omission. Even Austin over Campo is a bit strange.

Taking it slightly off topic, but gee Campo is my biggest player disappointment in the 32 years of supporting Canberra. Not that he disappointed per se, but that his body broke down. I know consistency wasn't always his thing, but crikey he was good to watch when he was on song. Looked and played like a natural footballer. I reckon his natural progression (without injuries) could've seen him survive on guile and smarts, much like Jason Smith did.
The year (08?) he made Colin Best look like a Tedesco-level player was just incredible.
Saddens me that he limped out of the NRL (figuratively and literally) as a jersey-grabbing defender and hesitant ball runner.

Son, we live in a world that has forums, and those forums have to be guarded by Mods. Who's gonna do it? You? You, Nickman? I have a greater responsibility than you can possibly fathom. You weep for Lucy, and you curse GE. You have that luxury. You have the luxury of not knowing what I know -- that GE’s moderation, while tragic, probably saved lives; and my existence, while grotesque and incomprehensible to you, keeps threads on track and under the appropriately sized, highlighted green headings.
You want moderation because deep down in places you don't talk about at parties, you want me on that forum -- you need me on that forum. We use words like "stay on topic," "use the appropriate forum," "please delete." We use these words as the backbone of a life spent defending something. You use them as a punch line. I have neither the time nor the inclination to explain myself to a man who rises and sleeps under the blanket of the very moderation that I provide and then questions the manner in which I provide it. I would rather that you just said "thank you" and went on your way. Otherwise, I suggest you get a green handle and edit a post. Either way, I don't give a DAMN what you think about moderation.
