Me too. We're better than they are.
I think this game is actually really well timed. This is good game to "tune up" the issues we fell short on today.

Just to be clear, Soliola to the bench is not a demotion. Just feel with this 17 the balance is better with him leading the bench. Based on Leilua missing games for the reported knees and Tapine not being fit. Sezer dropped on form.

Canberra Raiders centre could miss two weeks after charge from NRL match review committee

Joey Leilua has been charged with a grade-one dropping knees charge which comes with a base charge of 200 points. The charge could be reduced to 180 points with an early guilty plea, however Leilua has 50 carryover points from a previous charge.

If he takes the plea he misses two weeks and has 30 carryover points. If he fights the charge and loses he will miss two weeks and have 90 carryover points.

Great chance to make amends for the Manly game.

If we put in a good showing here (presuming we aren’t upset by warriors) we will be well primed to enter the finals with our confidence still intact.

BJ gets 2 weeks either way. Maybe plead guilty and minimise carry over points. I can't see how they could possibly get him exonerated at the judiciary.

BJ offers so much when he is focused and has a commitment to playing without unnecessary Bull in his game. He has the capability to grab a bag of Man of the Match performances each season.

Seems like he is back to his old ways though. If we win both games - do you bring him back and risk game defining brain snaps that more than likely cost us the game?

I think we've been performing better when we're away from home. Weight of expectation in front our big crowd gets to us. That said, it's Gallen's last home game and I understand it could be pretty close to house full sign. I see this as a positive going into the final so that the boys can experience a huge hostile crowd and learn that the best way to silence them is to put points on them.

Leilua will be gone for this game and the next. There's no way he can defend his actions when he could easily have just jumped over the player once he'd put the ball down.

1. Nicoll-Klokstad
2. Simonsson or Oldfield. I think either of them is faster than Cotric.
3. Croker
4. Cotric (who has been very understated for the past few weeks).
5. Rapana
6. Wighton
7. Sezer was running some silly lines against Manly and being easily shut down. However, Sharks are a big niggly side and Sezer can take a hit better than Williams I think. The time for that halfback rotation that Ricky was talking about might be against the Warriors so that Sezer is fresh for the finals).).
8. Papalii
9. Hodgson
10. Lui
11. Bateman
12. Whitehead
13. Sutton ( who I believe needs to be in the starting side even week. He brings little off the bench).

14. Young
15. Soliola (has been starting, but I think he provides more impact off the bench).
16. Horsburgh
17. Lui
Some people talk about the weather. Others do something about it.

Honestly, if he cops his 2 weeks and is available Week 1 of the Finals he comes back in Jersey 14 for me.

If our bench was;

14. Leilua
15. Soliola
16. Horsburgh
17. Young

I think teams would soil themselves.

We are going to have to be at our best to win this one. There's no doubt the Sharks will be up for Gallen's last home game and the crowd will ensure they have every opportunity. There are a couple of potential positives in this for us though. This is exactly the kind of game where Gallen will overplay his hand and get in the way of his team even more than he usually does and the Sharks fans really only cheer when they are winning. Score first in this game and play from in front and you can take the crowd out of it.

We need to get back to what has been working for us which is making smart decisions with the ball, high completion rates and putting pressure on the opposition with our defence. We went away from that yesterday and it cost us a game that we really should have had well under control.

Hopefully with his weeks off BJ goes back to some early season games where he was playing very well. Just that hard straight running through the middle and winning quick play of the balls. It's not as flashy as what he can do but it is a much better contribution to the team.

Unless our new centre struggles badly over the next 2 weeks I don’t see a way back for BJ. He’s lack of fitness leads to frustration which leads to poor discipline. A further 2 weeks on the sidelines doesn’t help him.

I'm open to the idea of keeping Cotric at 2 so he can continue to build for week 1 of the finals. Chopping and changing is not helping him. But, I just don't have enough confidence in Kris and Oldfield if we have the option. If I was going to make a choice; Kris has just played one of his better games of the season and is more defensively sound than Oldfield so he would come straight in for BJ. As a bench utility though Oldfield has covered more positions this year and has a better running game.

I think Papa and Sutton's opening stints were a bit too long. We didn't get the rotation right. Our bench is capable and we should be injecting that enthusiasm from guys like Young earlier on. It also helps avoid those silly fatigue errors like not playing the ball correctly.
Guler just had a massive game for Mounties playing 80mins with 40 tackles and 174 metres. Unfortunately he doesn't offer any utility value so I can't find a spot for him.

Sia really wound back the clock. He was really taking them on. Inspirational. Young had a crack, worth his salt in FG off the bench and see what else he develops in his game.

Poor old Cotric is having an quiet season by his standards and all this back and forth can't be helping him. Curious to see what Stick does with him. I suspect he does move to centre again and Rick just says- you're origin now, you need to deal with this stuff. Plus that has the added bonus of giving Cotric more time at centre to see if that's his next career spot.

For the record, BJ had really cleaned up his act during the first part of this season- he was a leading light in his effort, results and professionalism before his neck went. He'd improved defence and discipline and was a shoe in for origin. I won't be hanging him for this offence. It was lazy and stupid but he's been on an upward curve in that regard.

Croker missed a couple of kicks, BJ was a numpty, Sezer/CNK/the coaches didn't adjust to a rushing defence on the right and we had a couple of rough calls. That's enough in a game like this.

I'd go with the side Zim named. Sia to start alongside Papa to give us grunt in the opening minutes. Horspower to come on and continue his drive up the front row rankings. Lui to continue in his role of low error FG prop.

BJ should simply admit what he did and take the two weeks. I don't want to see the Raiders trying to defend the indefensible.
