Re: 2019 Rd 21 V Roosters: Teams and Previews
Havili and horse are the first picked in the bench this weekend. Lui has earned his spot also. Oldfield 18th man, cotric centre and Joey to play Mounties maybe ? And Sutton in if fit.
Or Joey on the bench, for who ? Man this is getting hard... in a good way

If BJ is on the bench and Sutton is back then there's only 2 spots between Havili, Horse and Lui. I'd like to keep Havili there as cover for Hodgo but on form you would need to take Horse and Lui ahead of him.

I’ll be surprised if BJ comes back this week. He will do well to get some confidence with Mounties.

I'd like to see a good 40 minutes for him at Mounties, then next week against the storm, full pelt. Bench ? I'm glad I don't have to make that callgreeneyed wrote:I’ll be surprised if BJ comes back this week. He will do well to get some confidence with Mounties.

I loved hearing great things said about the Raiders on 360. This season has been too good to be true so far.
Very unsure about who gets selected tomorrow

Re: 2019 Rd 21 V Roosters: Teams and Previews
I like the idea of Leilua coming back for a Melbourne. There’s no harder defensive task in the game than right centre against Easts atm imo.
well, I guess you could say that I'm buy curious.
Re: 2019 Rd 21 V Roosters: Teams and Previews
Ricky has already stated that Leilua will be named in the 21 man squad and it will be his call as to whether he thinks he is ready or not. Doubt Leilua will turn down the opportunity to play his 200th game, at home, against his former side.

Yeah, you don’t often hear a coach say, “We let him decide and he opted to just watch.”
I think he’ll play. I hope he’s ready. Would be a shame if him not being 100% was the difference in a loss.
Re: 2019 Rd 21 V Roosters: Teams and Previews
At the point they are asking the player if they feel they are ready to comeback from a neck, it means it has passed the scans, passed the strength tests and there is nothing medically wrong they can find with it.
If Joey plays he'll be ok.

I don't understand the opinion of people saying that we shouldn't rush him or that he won't be ready.
As if they know any better than the doctors, physio, coaches and of course Joey himself.

Re: 2019 Rd 21 V Roosters: Teams and Previews
I agree do they rush him in for the full 80 or use him from the bench and if that’s the case is it a waste of a bench spot. Training contact is way different then in a game so I agree maybe Mounties for a week is a good idea...but I doubt that will happen. We do get Cotric back this week which is a huge bonus.
Re: 2019 Rd 21 V Roosters: Teams and Previews
Ricky and the squad haven't made too many bad decisions this year. I'm happy to trust their judgment and go with what they feel is right re BJ.

Plus they are in far better position than us to gauge where BJ is at both mentally and physically. Basically whatever they decide is the right call.

Re: 2019 Rd 21 V Roosters: Teams and Previews
If he wasn’t right, he wouldn’t have been passed fit by the surgeon. I suppose fitness is the only worry but he would have been on the treadmill weeks ago so I’m sure he’ll be fine. Looking forward to seeing him back!

Agree with you 100%.
If BJ is left out, I think it would be more about the defensive solidarity we seem to have out on the edges right now with match fit players, that I guess the coaching staff want to continue.

Re: 2019 Rd 21 V Roosters: Teams and Previews
If he has been setting PBs and doing full contact training then he is ready. I would expect two tries down the right edge this weekend.
Re: 2019 Rd 21 V Roosters: Teams and Previews
Good to see some ads promoting the game during the Ashes coverage. Would love it if we could break 20K on Sunday - the boys deserve it.
I'm nervous already. It's going to be a tough week.
I love Oldy but geez I'm glad that Cotric is back this week. His battle with Latrell will be the dongiest of ding-dongs.

Apart from it being a bit chilly and partly cloudy, is there any other concern? Google saying only 20% chance of any rain.-TW- wrote:Hopefully this forecast crap weather passes quickly

Our track record in big games at Bruce with big crowds in recent years is a bit meh. Hoping we do it this time - this club and its supporters deserve to be excited about their team.

The PAX on my PlayNRL tickets today were 13,330 and 13,331. Not the best indicator but encouraging nonetheless.

Joey Leilua named in Canberra Raiders squad to face Sydney Roosters
Joey Leilua is on the cusp of a return to the NRL after defying the odds to overcome a career-threatening neck injury.
"He's going to be a massive addition to our squad come finals time, so certainly, getting some game time under his belt and getting ready for the semis is going to be a massive thing for us," Josh Hodgson said.
