Ricky said something interesting in the post-match conference...something along the lines of "I don't need to look at our past few games or the next few games to know where this team is at. I know where this team is at."
If you unpack this, he cannot mean that a poor performance in the next few weeks would confirm his current thinking that we are no-hopers...so clearly he doesn't expect us to be poor. Therefore, the only logical parsing of his words is that he (a) expects us to be good, and that (b) even if we aren't perfect, he expects us to get to the GF. It's good to know that the guy who's in charge has such a high opinion of our prospects...love him or loathe him, Stick knows what a winning side feels like.

I absolutely agree we have more in us as a team. We saw glimpses of it vs Penrith and the Warriors, but we still have to show we can play 80 against the likes of the Storm and Roosters. The Rickman wrote: ↑August 3, 2019, 9:46 am I genuinely don’t think we lose another game this year

Can't wait until the game vs Roosters on Sunday. Hopefully we get 20k to the ground.

Re: Status check
The spiral of silence refers to the idea that when people fail to speak, the price of speaking rises. As the price to speak rises, still fewer speak out, which further causes the price to rise, so that fewer people yet will speak out, until a whole culture or nation is silenced. This is what happened in Germany.
If you do not speak, you are not being neutral, but are contributing to the success of the thing you refuse to name and condemn.

The coach is sitting on a premiership winner. He knows it and i believe it.amiafish wrote: ↑August 3, 2019, 11:09 am Ricky said something interesting in the post-match conference...something along the lines of "I don't need to look at our past few games or the next few games to know where this team is at. You'd like to take a big scalp like the roostes or storm to continue to help build confidence. But if we lose to them both, there is no reason to believe we cant beat them in the finals. It'll come down to who plays best on the day. I believe that can be us. I beleive it will be us.

Re: Status check
I think one of the big things this year is we are losing the right games. Ignoring that one against the Cowboys and the "my mind is already in Bali" against the Eels (be it they are currently 6th) the only teams we have lost against are the top four (if we weren't there). So while it sucks we have yet to beat the other big teams, at least we aren't randomly losing to the wooden spoon contenders like we have so many years in the past. We can also hope they peaked early and our peak is yet to come.

Contrary to most people, I feel slightly worse than last week. Despite winning I would have taken more from a strategic well-played but unlucky loss.
There’s a lot to be taken from the game with the guts and determination it took to even be in the contest, let alone drag it back to victory. The team will take a lot of confidence out of that. Also executing the strategy to go around the storm rather than through the middle the way they lost the game in round 2 was a good sign from the game plan provided by the coaching staff. It was also phenomenally exciting for the fans
But I can’t help but be a bit unnerved that the team looked impacted by the big game again, and allowed themselves to be shaken and drawn into poor decision making. Maybe I’m wrong and they’ve got it out of their system now, but the stage will only get bigger come finals. Got to make the smart plays to get the cookies. I don’t expect we’ll be seeing the Storm make 11 errors in the finals.

When the boys are defending I count tackles.
And every single time they successfully kill 6 plays I congratulate them.
This is high stress stuff..
Will my heart handle a prelim ? Or heaven forbid a GF !!!
I don't know..but geez I'm very excited !!!

Top left..next to the clock.
So..
With 90 secs to go last night Storm had the ball. They needed to go 70-80mtrs? And I've got my left eye on the clock and my right eye on the play.
I'm screaming at Mrs PJ...Tackle 1..1min15 to go, tackle 2..under a minute now. a few more plays upfield, more valuable time soaked from the clock. Mrs PJ is asking me to keep a lid on it..QUIET WOMAN !!.
Last play..Storm put in a kick. Croker knocks on..I'm up him..IDIOT !! Storm rush to pack the scrum. I look at the clock..16secs. We can't lose from here surely ? Mrs PJ butts in.."The Storm still have a chance"..QUIET WOMAN !!
We win.. I'm hi-5ing absolutely no one..I crack ANOTHER stubby and go outside into a freezing Lak Mac winter, I'm sculling my beer and there's plenty of woooop woooops goin on.
