57th min TRY KIWI FERNS to winger Madison Bartlett in the corner. Takes the ball, stands and bumps off the tackler and dives over. Charntay Poko cannot convert, she had the direction but not the distance.

What a sight at Mt Smart as Tonga enter the field of play! It looks like a sell out. Now the Kiwis! There's probably more Tongan than Kiwi supporters in the crowd. Now the national anthems! Benji Marshall in tears as God defend New Zealand is sung.

The cultural ceremonies for both teams... WOW! Siliva Havili in the front line for Tonga, and he looks fierce! Benji Marshall led the haka for New Zealand.

That was incredible!

The spiral of silence refers to the idea that when people fail to speak, the price of speaking rises. As the price to speak rises, still fewer speak out, which further causes the price to rise, so that fewer people yet will speak out, until a whole culture or nation is silenced. This is what happened in Germany.

If you do not speak, you are not being neutral, but are contributing to the success of the thing you refuse to name and condemn.

45th min TRY KIWIS to Shaun Johnson, the bunker says he's grounded it, but it doesn't look like it! The Tongan player had his foot on the ball and they touch his foot! Great kick from Brandon Smith, which hits the upright to set it up. It is a hat trick for Johnson, three straight tries.

Johnson hat-trick powers Kiwis to big win over Tonga

Shaun Johnson celebrated his 30th Test match for New Zealand with a hat-trick to help propel the Kiwis to a dominant 34-14 win over Tonga at Mt Smart Stadium on Saturday.

The Sharks half scored his trio set in a 14-minute burst in the match played before the usual raucous and colourful Polynesian nations’ supporters.
