Don't know how hes getting rep honors in that spot, in the second row i can understand.I much prefer him as a 2nd rower.
As a prop he doesn't cause the damage he once did. Plain and simple. He was a wrecking ball, now he's barley a quick play the ball. Useless. Bring back Boyd. Paps to 11.

I prefer him in the second row but he's doing great at prop.
Paps is pretty much the only player beyond reproach around here that deserves to be.

Yes, he should be sacked immediately. !!!

Re: Is Papalli over rated?
Haha. I reckon he was a major reason why QLD won the match last week. They owned NSW in the 2nd half and it was largely due to papa and to top that off he ran for 180m 2 days later!! He'd be in the top 4 middles in the game at the moment.
Re: Is Papalli over rated?
Haha good grief
I’m with Ed, I think he’s probably a better back rower than front rower but his work up front has been nothing short of excellent

I agree. He used to punch out 80mins now barely manages 60. As a club we should not stand for this.

Re: Is Papalli over rated?
I presume the subject is clickbait as the actual discussion is about the relative merits of him playing prop vs second row.
I was initially quite disappointed about Papa needing to move into prop, as he is arguably the comps premier second rower in full flight. At times he is almost unstoppable on the edge. However with Whitehead and Bateman in the the team, and our need to cover the loss of Boyd and Paulo, the move was inevitable.
To date, he has been outstanding for us. I still miss the carnage he causes on the edge, but he has done a whale of a job in the middle.

Re: Is Papalli over rated?
We started to look like a half decent team that could win the arm wrestle in the middle right around the time Papalii moved to the middle rotation... funny that
Re: Is Papalli over rated?
I think it's a troll thread.
Papa as a younger, more mobile guy was a top drawer 2nd rower. That was in his teens and early 20s.
But he was never going to get smaller and faster as he matured. Lock or prop he's outstanding. It's not a position where it is as easy to make breaks by simple virtue of the fact you are passed less ball in space and do not get the chance to run at/over smaller men like a 2nd rower sometimes does so you won't get quite the same highlight reels.
But he's still got some nice footwork and that offload. I like the play where we send him back sniffing through the ruck angling around behind the play- makes some nice half breaks there so far.
Jees he can still hit and he's our only tough metre man in the prop dept. (as in, makes yards even on the sets we are getting smashed in our own 10m-20m zone)
Nice try though.

I’ve been one to challenge the status quo mentality of the Green-tinted glasses brigade in the past, but.... good grief!
Papa is a gun, it’s hard to find anything in his game these days that you can be critical of.

Re: Is Papalli over rated?
Hopefully he gets a premiership in is career, exactly what the raiders need at prop, like the old days, mobile big props

Re: Is Papalli over rated?
Prior to this year he had been very average when he played prop, compared to playing in the second row. I've been pleasantly surprised with his transition this year and to me he is currently one of the form props in the comp. He's put on a bit more weight which works to his advantage in the role.
The game evolves and the current trend is to have lighter, more mobile players in the second row. His lateral movement in defence is not as good as the two Poms on the edge and as a result I feel he was getting caught out by the opposition. Getting him out of the second row has helped our defence IMO, albeit affecting our attack.
