Yes, agree, but seeing as he scored let focus on the halves and the left edge who offered nothing.
Halves were garbage but I'd keep Walker and put A-Rey in there. Go for the club combo. Cleary was pretty average last year and even worse this one. It's only performance of his teammates that saw them win last series. He struggles at this level.
YES! Change the halves again!

Oh man, this game just got all the more sweeter.

God I hope the NSW team thinks the same way as you do.
It’s posts like these that make Origin all the sweeter.

That scoreline absolutely flattered NSW, if we passed to Gagai more we would’ve won that game by 30.

Can’t wait to see NSW completely change their whole team again

Fair play. QLD dominated that second half and deserved the victory.

I’m glad we’ll have a decider in game III this year.

No one here ever advocated for Cleary, even though he was half when NSW won last year. Just shows we won in spite of him. So nothing amazing about these comments, was recognised long ago.

Canberra Raiders breathe sigh of relief after Nick Cotric injury scare in Origin I

Nooooooo! You could almost hear the cursing from Ricky Stuart's house as Nick Cotric lay clutching his knee. But then came the collective sigh of relief right across the ACT. The Canberra Raiders young gun got up and played on.

QUEENSLAND MAROONS 18 (Dane Gagai 2, Corey Oates tries; Kalyn Ponga 3 goals) bt NSW BLUES 14 (Josh Morris, Jake Trbojevic tries; Nathan Cleary 3 goals) at Suncorp Stadium. Referees: Gerard Sutton, Ashley Klein. Crowd: 52,191.

I don’t know which tip sheet Ado Carr was reading which said Ponga had a problem with throwing too many intercepts, but Christ he was dreadful. Made a lot of dumb defensive reads that cost us big time.

Origin player ratings

10: Josh Papalii: Effort was never lacking. Didn't match the running metres of Blues prop Klemmer but did enough to set a platform for the skilled players in his side. 7

https://www.nrl.com/news/2019/06/05/mar ... -game-one/

2. Nick Cotric: Did nothing wrong in first half but came in too far and opened up space for Corey Oates to score the Maroons first try. Limited opportunities in attack and looked to pick up a leg injury in the second term. 6

14. Jack Wighton: Sent into the game by Brad Fittler with 25 minutes to go and had a kick charged down and threw an intercept pass which Dane Gagai swooped on to score. 4.5

It was a comparable situation after the first half. One team clearly the better in the first half, but behind on the scoreboard. No doubt the coach telling his team that they were better and could fight back in the second half.

Ouch, Cotric deserved at least an 7 or even an 8. Can't argue with Jack's score, considering he was an impact player. Can we have a rating for Fitler as coach though? Surely a 4 or 5? When sections of teams were failing he did nothinf, until too late.

If Keary is fit I think he will replace Walker at 5/8. He offers far more in terms of organisation imo both attack and defence. People will say, but for Jack's intercept the scores were even. I thought Qld were better at executing their game plan and attacked on the edges. I think NSW can offer much more in attack with Keary in the side. There seemed to be little communication between Walker and Mitchell in the defensive line. That is not apparent when Keary is beside Mitchell at the Chooks. Credit to the Queenslanders for taking the opening match. It is now up to the Blues to show the cattle dog spirit in Game 2.

QLD during their dominant era shouldn’t have even let NSW win the 2014 series. They had a team that will never be surpassed in terms of quality and was always far superior.

Winning a game like tonight, with a team that’s probably on par on paper is a much bigger feat IMO. Credit to them.

I’ll have to watch it more closely again but I can’t recall the Oates try being scored due to Cotric coming in. Wasn’t Morris about 15 metres in field leaving Cotric to defend a 3 on 1 on his own which he very nearly did?
