Wighton will cop a lot of flack for that pass but the fact is that QLD winning was always envitable here

They've had all the momentum and have been the best side comfortably

Jack will cop the flack but the entire blues side has been awful this half and that left edge for the entire game.

Furthermore hopefully he doesn't become the Buhrer-esque sacrificial lamb who gets dropped after 12 minutes.
The second one is almost certain to happen.

I really hope the first doesn't. Whisk him straight back amongst our boys...maybe get the captain to give him a pep talk like he did in 2016.

Yep. Arrogant performance from the Blues after half time I reckon.

Deserves to be though. He put that right in Gagai's bread basket- wasn't even close to a 50/50 play.

It wasn't smart. But Mitchell and Addo-Carr and the halves have been absolute trash all night. If someone's dropped, Wighton's not the one who deserves to be.

Can't blame Jack when the entire left side has been disgraceful, and the fact that the blues looked very complacent in the second half

The spiral of silence refers to the idea that when people fail to speak, the price of speaking rises. As the price to speak rises, still fewer speak out, which further causes the price to rise, so that fewer people yet will speak out, until a whole culture or nation is silenced. This is what happened in Germany.

If you do not speak, you are not being neutral, but are contributing to the success of the thing you refuse to name and condemn.

FULL TIME

Queensland Maroons 18 defeated New South Wales Blues 14

Queensland Maroons pull off amazing fightback to win Origin opener

Queensland 1. The other team 0.

After a week of mind games, whisperers and taboo topics, Queensland's unorthodox approach to the opening game of this year's State of Origin series has produced the success they were told to expect, winning 18-14.

Be a different story if he had contributed but he's generally looked like he doesn't know what he is meant to be doing. I just don't think he suits the role of 14 at all, you have to be able to think on your feet and adapt really quickly in that spot.

I think it will be one of those kind of close on the scoreline but not really on the field type games.

Predictable result.... the QLD underdogs were always gonna fire up and sneak home in front of a capacity crowd.
No doubt Wighton will be the scapegoat.... he will be dropped for ultimately costing NSW the game with that intercept pass. It was such a raiders play.... 2 on 1 overlap and he manages to **** it up.

He's a Sydney media darling. Offers nothing at this level. NSW need another big middle forward instead of him wasting a bench spot.

I was always worried that NSW were a Prop short.

With that said Fittler’s rotations were horrible. Did Klemmer play in the second half?

I love Jack Wighton. But he deserves flack for that terrible pass. That wasn’t acceptable at Origin level.
