The spiral of silence refers to the idea that when people fail to speak, the price of speaking rises. As the price to speak rises, still fewer speak out, which further causes the price to rise, so that fewer people yet will speak out, until a whole culture or nation is silenced. This is what happened in Germany.

If you do not speak, you are not being neutral, but are contributing to the success of the thing you refuse to name and condemn.

Who else has noticed that homes in America don't have screen/secruity doors out front ?

If you watch sitcoms like King of Queens, Everybody loves Raymond, Happy Days etc I've never seen a screen door.

Why is that ?

Back in my debt collection days, I use to run reports on how many calls my team made, average handling time, money collected etc.

There was one lady who was averaging 90 - 100 calls a day, but her aht was around 20 seconds. When I caught on, I thought I’d listen to some of her calls to see what was going on... she was calling fax numbers to jack up her call numbers.

Son, we live in a world that has forums, and those forums have to be guarded by Mods. Who's gonna do it? You? You, Nickman? I have a greater responsibility than you can possibly fathom. You weep for Lucy, and you curse GE. You have that luxury. You have the luxury of not knowing what I know -- that GE’s moderation, while tragic, probably saved lives; and my existence, while grotesque and incomprehensible to you, keeps threads on track and under the appropriately sized, highlighted green headings.
You want moderation because deep down in places you don't talk about at parties, you want me on that forum -- you need me on that forum. We use words like "stay on topic," "use the appropriate forum," "please delete." We use these words as the backbone of a life spent defending something. You use them as a punch line. I have neither the time nor the inclination to explain myself to a man who rises and sleeps under the blanket of the very moderation that I provide and then questions the manner in which I provide it. I would rather that you just said "thank you" and went on your way. Otherwise, I suggest you get a green handle and edit a post. Either way, I don't give a DAMN what you think about moderation.

Been riding this new metro train the last two weeks. I’m a fan.

Worked from home yesterday and forgot to set my alarm, woke up 30 mins late, and I’m still going to be in work by 8:30.

Couldn’t have done that at my old station.

I've made a doctors appointment for later today to deal with my lower leg issues.

I may need some extended time away from work(a week maybe) to rest a bit.

On top of sore feet now my ankles are aching and the pain is shooting up through my achilles and into my carves..

Mrs PJ noticed me hobbling yesterday...finally !

" I've been hobbling for months dear".

There's sfa the doc can do, well..nothing I haven't tried already !!

Hey dubs, can I recommend the Headspace app? Try it out for five to ten minutes every day in the morning. I've been using it now for ten straight days, 20min a day and it's the most mentally clear I may have ever felt in my life.

Try out the 7-day free trial (make sure you use it EVERY day) and see how you go. I was speaking to Albi on the phone yesterday and when the topic of Headspace come up he said he recommends it to his clients too.

I've just watched some video on the Shakti mat. It looks like it would definately benefit some people with back problems. Sure I could buy one and stand on it but Lego would have the same result..
