Re: 2019 NRL Round 10 - Teams and Game Day
Good to see coaches waking up. Mansour’s been hopeless for a while, RCG is playing very average but not sure if Tim Grant’s been going any better.

Bad news for Tigers is with all this possession they haven't crossed the line. We know the penalties will start to even out

Probably got 6 more points than they otherwise would. Storm defense hard to crack.

Don't the Storm constantly and very deliberately break the rules? Yet are barely penalised? Why the complaints when they're finally being penalised for deliberately flouting the rules?

Benji threw the ball and Munster threw his arm out and knocked it down.
Definitely correct call.

Ridiculous penalty for a crusher tackle. That was all on the player with the ball. He spun and ducked under him.

Hmmm, surprised bunker overturned that. Decoy runner took out the fullback who couldn't make the tackle on the try scorer.

He wanted to make sure the bunker could hear it through the refs mic.

Agreed. Strange they are actually being penalised for stuff they do every week - can only assume it's a deliberate crackdown similar to us v the Sea eagles.greeneyed wrote:Don't the Storm constantly and very deliberately break the rules? Agreed. Sure B Smith was still able to make a defensive play but Papyhause wasn't.Northern Raider wrote:Hmmm, surprised bunker overturned that. Decoy runner took out the fullback who couldn't make the tackle on the try scorer.

Tigers defense looked very strong that half, bar the one miss.

Bunker had locked in on the outside defender. It was correct in that respect. Didn't look at anybody else though and Papenhuysen was definitely obstructed.gergreg wrote: ↑May 16, 2019, 8:37 pmAgreed. Re: 2019 NRL Round 10 - Teams and Game Day
Shouldn't be relevant who Smith took. The decoy runner obstructed a defender moving across towards the play.yeh raiders wrote: ↑May 16, 2019, 8:38 pmBrandon Smith tackled the decoy runner, causing Pap to get caught up. Correct call IMOgergreg wrote: ↑May 16, 2019, 8:37 pmAgreed. Sure B Smith was still able to make a defensive play but Papyhause wasn't.Northern Raider wrote:Hmmm, surprised bunker overturned that. Re: 2019 NRL Round 10 - Teams and Game Day
In most instances this year where a decoy runner has hit the defensive line and a defender has gone down (that was close to the try being scored) it's been called no try. If that is CNK going down in the exact situation are you ok with it?yeh raiders wrote:Brandon Smith tackled the decoy runner, causing Pap to get caught up. I'd say this is a bit of conscious tip sheeting, given all the analysis of matches so far... which, by the way, showed the Storm was barely penalised but were amongst the teams slowing the play the ball the most. The Rickman wrote: ↑May 16, 2019, 8:29 pm 8-2 penalty count against the Storm... at home
Unconscious bias, GE??

I think you'll find that the same is true for the Raiders. The refs have decided that the Raiders are deliberately slowing the play the ball... comments from Ricky Stuart are sort of consistent with that... as he said something like we are playing the same "sort of game" as the Roosters and Storm. And that's why the Raiders are getting hammered in the penalties the last three weeks.
The Raiders will need to adjust and fix their game up. Otherwise they'll continue to get hammered in the penalties and lose games. The Raiders need to adjust to the standards being applied.

Yes, that's my interpretation.gergreg wrote: ↑May 16, 2019, 8:35 pmAgreed. Strange they are actually being penalised for stuff they do every week - can only assume it's a deliberate crackdown similar to us v the Sea eagles.greeneyed wrote:Don't the Storm constantly and very deliberately break the rules? Yet are barely penalised? Why the complaints when they're finally being penalised for deliberately flouting the rules?

How can the attacker run through the line when his line has been blocked by the defender trying to tackle him. It’s the defenders fault that both the attacker and Pap got caught up.
Common sense says try.

Hahahaha fantastic stuff
I have another theory... and I know it’s out there, but bear with me, but maybe... MAYBE... the Storm are playing a less disciplined game tonight
Nah, probably just unconscious bias against them at home

Re: 2019 NRL Round 10 - Teams and Game Day
So if a team gets their biggest player to run as a decoy full steam into the 2 markers on the tryline and the dummy half walks through the gap and scores, that's ok?yeh raiders wrote:How can the attacker run through the line when his line has been blocked by the defender trying to tackle him. Christian Welch knee is gone. Tough one as he was all set for an Origin jersey this year.
