Titans forum saying Penrith are shopping Dylan Edwards. Opportunity at Raiders probably long gone
He’s a future rep player, he just happens to be having a rough patch of form. Normally you would try and cash in, but as it stands today we couldn’t offer him any first grade football. If he fits under the cap I would make it happen though. You can’t deny talent (especially if you can buy low on it).
I’d bet a lot of money on him never playing rep football.
well, I guess you could say that I'm buy curious.

Fullback is a very stacked position, Tedesco has a mortgage on the blues and aus jersey for the next 5-8 years
The List - K.Love, Keno, Zippy's tennis angels, LA Lakers, Noah, Boozer, Lucy's horse tips, Colts, Lucy, Kevin Proctor, Dr Zaius, TR, Tinfoil hatted Gangers and Woody, anyone in Raiders HQ who can point to QBN on a map....

Spot on, Tedesco should have a mortgage on blues fullback.

But, if Dylan Edwards ever gets a ‘Mortgage’ on a representative fullback position I’d be reopening the banking Royal Commission.

I’m probably higher on Edwards pure talent than most but I’m not laying a dollar on any fullback outside of Teddy and Ponga playing rep footy

Yeah, I made that statement without considering the incumbents. Tedesco is amazing (what could have been in green), Turbo will be the bridesmaid but can at least play wing to keep him in the team.

Edwards is more of a specialist. He already is a very good player at the position, and will go on and have a long successful career - he has all the skills.

There is so much decency bias from all the armchair pundits... almost every young player hits the skids for a period somewhere in their first 50 games. Edwards will be a good pickup for someone provided he gets a crack at the #1 jumper. That place isn’t Canberra at the moment, although we could be one injury away from needing him

Presume you mean recency bias? I agree on the whole but personally never really rated Edwards from the start. He was good at the start but did come into a hot team at the time as a bit of an unknown. I think DWZ has looked better at fullback for Penrith for some time now. I agree that Edwards, although having only played 20 odd games, is a first grade fullback. Especially considering Boyd, Johnston, Dufty, CNK (considering his inexperience), 35 year old Gordon and Meaney are all full timers. Also Mbye has labored this year and the Cowboys don’t even have an actual fullback.

There are many teams he would improve but I don’t see many of those teams taking a leap unless they can get him on the cheap. If they do get him for peanuts I think it’s a good gamble though, yeah.

He reminds me a bit of Garry Jack. Hard running, good hands, backs up, great positioning, can tackle hard and can take a tackle, good under the high ball. He doesn't jink around like Schif or have the phobia of tackling like Mullins. Nor does he ball-play like Schif or Belcher did (although this might evolve). He's just that guy who does everything asked of him at an extremely high standard. I have no idea why he wasn't getting a run for the Warriors.

The bloke nearly has his kneecap inverted in the first half and by late in the second he is taking two hitups in a pressure set of 6. He has been immense for us. Surely has to be the bargain signing of the NRL.
Gary Jack! He's got more of a side step and he holds the ball out front in two hands, not tucked safely under his wing but both have the tough, uncompromising style you could see they just looked for ways to get involved for their team.

I'm hoping the ball playing comes along too but no real signs of it yet.

Yeah, that's a good point about how Jack ran with the ball in two hands. I think many players back then did a similar thing with the greasy leather ball. Didn't really think about that!

Pretty sure he means Jack used to just run with the ball tucked one handed and never passed. That’s my memory of the highlights I’ve seen.

No I meant CNK does it but I never saw Jack do it.

Makes me nervous when I see CNK hold the ball up out front to the chasing line but he never seems to drop it.

Haha recency, yes. His work so far this season wouldn’t stand up to decency bias, that’s for sure.

I suppose it shows why scouting can never be completely objective - when I see DWZ at fullback he gives me the feel that he’s a winger filling in rather than naturally fitting the position. I don’t go for the argument “he’s the NZ fullback” - he’s not if RTS is available.

They’re definitely stronger with FB Edwards/Wing DWZ than the other way around.... so if the rumours are true they really mustn’t rate Edwards at all (despite all the development they’ve put into him).

You’re bang on with all the landing spots you mentioned - if his manager gets him to one of those sides, he will improve them

Edwards is a very good fullback. We wanted him during preseason for a good reason.
He was implicated in the videos and the Panthers put out a public smother on him being in the video, since Edwards is such a good boy and loves his Wife and young family. It must have been a coincidence his twin happened to feature in the video. There’s also more videos but the Geyer court action has put a stop to the releases for now.
I wouldn’t underestimate the role all that stuff has played in the form of a few players including Edwards.

Ahh, fair enough, now I understand. Jack certainly used to do it a little bit too, until he hit full flight or broke the line. He was generally a run first option fullback though and he did tuck it under the arm when he went into contact, unlike CNK.

@Seiffert82,
Wasnt getting a run at Warriors because:
1. RTS, do I say more?
2. Ken Maumalo - bigger, faster, stronger, prototype winger. Formers Samoa rep, now NZ rep.
3. David Fusitua - bigger, faster, stronger, prototype winger. Former NZ rep, now Tongan rep - and we know what their side looks like these days. Was the try scoring leader last yr.
4. Solomona Kata - aka Hurrell 2.0. Im not a huge fan, but the Kiwi's love their big bodied players.
5. Beale/ Hiku - both are/ have been NZ reps. In and out of the squad over recent yrs.

Does that help? :D

It's an absolute joke. Both the Warriors and Brisbane should be top 8 every single season, pushing for top 4. Anything short of that is a failure.

Isn’t it interesting how vocal the broncos media/fans are about their huge advantages when they’re losing.

Don’t hear a peep of acknowledgement when they’re winning...

There’s a rumour that some NRL clubs are after Luke Thompson. Thoughts on him Posh and other Superleague followers?

Not a SL watcher but I remember being very impressed with him over the rep season playing for England. Looked the pick of their props to me. That was rep footy and it may be he was more eye catching than Sutton- I was mostly watching Raiders but I do remember thinking I wish we'd bought him. He is more in the athletic/dynamic mould ala P Vaughan than the steady workhorse grinding type from what I saw.

His overall game is pretty much as good as anything in the world at prop. He's not the best at anything, but doesn't seem to have any weaknesses.

My only concern is his playing style. He shows no regard for his own safety and ploughs into contact like a madman. You love him for it, but you feel it will catch up with him at some point.

Put him in the Raiders side and only a half would be needed to comfortably win the GF.

People wanting TPJ at this club clearly aren’t watching him play for the broncos.

He’s the antithesis of our current squad’s work ethic - my word he’s a lazy unit

You can’t just pay him a million and hope he will be a thing

Put him in the Raiders side and only a half would be needed to comfortably win the GF.
Is George Williams good enough to be that half?
Depends who he's replacing.
Let's say Sam Williams and/or Aidan Sezer.

People wanting TPJ at this club clearly aren’t watching him play for the broncos.

He’s the antithesis of our current squad’s work ethic - my word he’s a lazy unit

You can’t just pay him a million and hope he will be a thing
I wish our lazy players over the years could punch out a casual 18 hitups and 180 meters like he just did.

Ed, I'll be honest and say I didn't watch the Broncos play a sharks team stacked with reggies players but you'd have to agree that stats alone don't tell the full story. He has failed the eye test when ever I've seen him this year. Granted he has some big plays in him, he can create something out of nothing, but he also has just as many dumb plays in him. The debate is not whether he's got potential, we'd all agree he does, it's whether he's worth 1m.. which I firmly believe he ain't.

Case in point ed, 10 of 17 Broncos players ran for over 100 meters. The stats I have had TPJ at 160m, Haas at 153m and lodge at 180m!!
