Bromwich stuffs up the play the ball but refs decide it's a penalty right in front.

75th min PENALTY GOAL STORM to Cameron Munster. That was a huge penalty to the Storm. The call is "crowding" but the Storm certainly didn't play the ball correctly either.

That was a terrible call. He had every right to hold on for as long as he did
NRL Round 7 - Teams and Game Day
Shocking referees decision. Terrible placing of the ball to try and draw a penalty. And it worked.

Such a gutsy effort by Warriors with mostly reserve grade players. Deserved better.

Re: NRL Round 7 - Teams and Game Day
I mentioned it last week. The ability of Storm to get away with forward passes yet get opposition Forward passes called in their favour amazes me.
It keeps happening week after week, season after season.

That was a classic #penaltybroncos moment for the Storm there. They've taken the mantle.

I dont want to alarm you, but the Storm have been the standard of the league for what feels like 15 years now, they've seen talent come and go that is the envy of every team in the league, and here they are, in 2019, with a bunch of kids who they hope to carry the flag, and a 57 year old Cam Smith @ 7-1 and one of the two juggernauts of the competition.
They dont need calls. They're relevant, haha.

Fancy Billy Slater defending the penalty that's surprising who did he play for again

Cam is the best in the league at throwing a forward pass. All bloody day.BJ wrote:I mentioned it last week. The ability of Storm to get away with forward passes yet get opposition Forward passes called in their favour amazes me.

Re: NRL Round 7 - Teams and Game Day
There is no disputing the quality of their side, from coaching staff, support staff down to every single player. But if that club is treated the same as any other side in the competition (excluding the Broncos and Roosters for obvious reasons) they don't have the amount of success they have achieved and the club probably doesn't exist in the longer term. The Melbourne market is apparently more important than EDIT. The game has evolved quite a lot in the past decade and rules have been changed and modified year after year to combat the Storm's tactics which are not in the spirit of the game. The NRL accepts all this Bull for the new market.PigRickman wrote:I dont want to alarm you, but the Storm have been the standard of the league for what feels like 15 years now, they've seen talent come and go that is the envy of every team in the league, and here they are, in 2019, with a bunch of kids who they hope to carry the flag, and a 57 year old Cam Smith @ 7-1 and one of the two juggernauts of the competition.

Edit. And they don't win tonight without those favourable calls tonight and they don't come close to the Roosters last week without the same treatment in the second half.

So the NRL values the market so much that they
*checks notes*
Stripped the club of multiple premierships, fined them almost into non-existence with an Australian record fine?
OK. Sure. Sounds like some super **** favourable ****.

Here's a general reminder about the forum guidelines. You cannot make allegations about the integrity of the officials of the NRL on this site.
Thanks.
Thanks.
Re: NRL Round 7 - Teams and Game Day
A lot of people were suggesting they should be thrown out of the competition the breaches were that bad.

Nah I think you'll find that you and Nick, the 2 Storm cheerleaders on this site are actually in the minority on this one - amongst the rugby league community.

I think you'll find that sensible supporters of the code of rugby league want a successful, competitive rugby league team in Melbourne and want a genuine National Rugby League.

Re: NRL Round 7 - Teams and Game Day
Not if it means a consistent leg up over all the other teams on the field. If they did it off field like the AFL do it with the aim of growing the game then yes but at least acknowledge it.
Best thing RL can do now to rectify this is a second team in Melbourne and a second team in Brisbane. Cut some of the fat in Sydney and make it happen.
I think the titans should be relocated to Brisbane (play a few games at GC) and move Sharks to Melbourne (they have the cheating down pat already)
Tigers to Perth playing a few games out of Leichhardt oval.

Absolutely agree but that shouldn't come at the cost <insert comments that you will edit>.greeneyed wrote:I think you'll find that sensible supporters of the code of rugby league want a successful, competitive rugby league team in Melbourne and want a genuine National Rugby League.
How can anybody - who as you say is a sensible supporter of rugby league - look at how referees interpret and penalise teams for ruck infringements and say that all teams are treated the same in the ruck? I watch a Storm game and it baffles me how their 'opponent' generally receive less ruck infringement penalties than they do. I am not alone in this thinking at all.
