Feels like a Eels/Bulldogs sort of move, doesnt it?
Sharks maybe?
Sharks maybe?
Re: Raiders player signing speculation 2019
Peter Beattie has already ruled Folau out, not welcome. Views inconsistent with the values of the NRL.

I give it 2 years then Uncle Nick from the Roosters will make an offer for a return and it will magically be granted by the NRLThe Rickman wrote:Absolutely delighted to see the NRL showing a bit of backbone for once. **** should be banned for life too, we don't need that **** in our society, let alone in our sport.PigRickman wrote: ↑April 12, 2019, 8:38 amFrench Rugby it is i guess.

2 years from now he'll have just turned 32, he's probably not going to be good enough at that point for the roosters to even bother with tbhLastRaider wrote: ↑April 12, 2019, 1:05 pmI give it 2 years then Uncle Nick from the Roosters will make an offer for a return and it will magically be granted by the NRLThe Rickman wrote:Absolutely delighted to see the NRL showing a bit of backbone for once. **** should be banned for life too, we don't need that **** in our society, let alone in our sport.PigRickman wrote: ↑April 12, 2019, 8:38 amFrench Rugby it is i guess.

At least Izzy is prepared to say something against the grain and put his name to it. Everyone feels they have to toe the line at the moment. Guaranteed plenty of high profile people agree with him on some points, but it's more popular to bag him.

He’s a self aggrandising bastard!

Yep, his saving grace is that hes willing to publicly spread the hateful message other hateful people are at least smart enough to keep to themselves. What a redeeming feature

He's being bagged because he's made horrible, hateful, discriminatory remarks.

Yeah he should of picked a different, more popular religion if he wished to harbor those kinds of views in western society.greeneyed wrote:He's being bagged because he's made horrible, hateful, discriminatory remarks.

I’d love to know if Izzy has kept within his religion and given substantial amounts of his income to his church
Also I’d be super pumped if Izzy could just **** off and take his hateful **** with him

He is welcome to his thoughts, and to speak his mind, it is a free country after all. However, everyone else is also right to be bagging the absolute BLEEP out of him for saying it too. Right.
You do understand that most people outside the media share his views.

I don't believe that's true. A majority of Australians are reasonable, sensible, educated and tolerant. The people who are hateful and intolerant are thankfully, increasingly in the minority.

The majority of us are tolerant. I think the gay marriage plebiscite demonstrated that.
I want to see your working out on the other three. I am pretty sceptical of your claims here GE.

Re: Raiders player signing speculation 2019
The media literally makes its $$$ by pandering to what most people want to watch or hear. They don't lead opinion. They follow it. It is the business model.LP Raider wrote: ↑April 15, 2019, 6:48 pmHe does give financially to his church.PigRickman wrote: ↑April 12, 2019, 9:55 pm I’d love to know if Izzy has kept within his religion and given substantial amounts of his income to his church

If most people supported his views, media and corporations would follow that Almighty dollar by "upholding community standards" and supporting him. The reason they don't is that BY FAR the largest % of Australians offer "no religion" to census questions and even those who do follow a religion tend to do so in a tolerant, live and let live manner.
Neither left, nor right has super-powers over the market.
PS. I've left niche operators out of the discussion , for simplicity.

The spiral of silence refers to the idea that when people fail to speak, the price of speaking rises. As the price to speak rises, still fewer speak out, which further causes the price to rise, so that fewer people yet will speak out, until a whole culture or nation is silenced. This is what happened in Germany.
If you do not speak, you are not being neutral, but are contributing to the success of the thing you refuse to name and condemn.
