The spiral of silence refers to the idea that when people fail to speak, the price of speaking rises. As the price to speak rises, still fewer speak out, which further causes the price to rise, so that fewer people yet will speak out, until a whole culture or nation is silenced. This is what happened in Germany.
If you do not speak, you are not being neutral, but are contributing to the success of the thing you refuse to name and condemn.

stoked with the 3 and 1 miles off our best footy.
Young is exactly the type of player I want on our bench that real bustling hard hitting all energy guy.
Lui and Sutton great tonight, Havili adds something and covers the great man so Tapine at his best means Young bides his time.

Contain Moses ad we should be ok, and that means Williams to stop rushing up and leaving huge gaps. Our forwards should be able to get on top.

From the small sample size I'm sticking with my opinion pre-season. Whitehead and J. Bateman on the edges, Tapine in the middle. Others may disagree but those two Poms really help us defensively out wide.
So if Tapine is fit, he goes to 13. Sutton bench. Young back to Mounties.

Re: 2019 Rd 5 V Eels: Teams and Previews
I thought Lui had a fine game defensively tonight. I would again run with the same side. If Tapine is fit then I'd start him on the bench replacing Young. I thought Sutton has plugged some gaps exploited by the Storm with his strong D. Both Knights and Cowboys have tried similar tactics to Storm but they have run into a solid largish defender in Sutton. Should Sezer be fit he would be starting with Mounties for mine.

I wouldn’t mind seeing tapine starting prop along side paps to set the platform.
Lui, Sia, Havilii and big red coming off the bench
This is the biggest test we have had since the storm.
Williams over sevzer, 2 wins from 2 with him and looked better in the trials as well.
Let’s cut him some slack !!

Happy to swap Bateman and Tapine but I think I’d start this way this week. If Sezer is fit he needs to earn his way back through mounties. Sam hasn’t been setting the world on fire but we’re winning games with him so I don’t see a reason to swap him out.
More running back in behind the ruck, target junior, we all know he can’t move sideways, should be some good metres to be had if we play nice and straight.
Have a week off from uni next week and will be home in Canberra for this one and the Donkeys game. Very excited.

Lets not forget the Eels haven't won in Canberra since 2006!
If the Raiders win this year it will equal the 14 yr hoodoo the Dragons once occupied.

Re: 2019 Rd 5 V Eels: Teams and Previews
Sutton should stay at lock imo. He makes a huge difference defensively and Bateman plays just as well on the edge. I'd be looking at Tapine as a prop or bench forward.
Re: 2019 Rd 5 V Eels: Teams and Previews
If Tapine comes back, Sutton should go to starting prop. And Lui back to the bench to partner Soliola in the interchange stint.

Pending Tapine and Sezers fitness, sane team.
Should Tapine be fit, would love to see Sutton start in the front row. He has really made huge strides in the last fortnight

I also think Tapine could be the next fan favourite to decline over the next year or so, he’ll need to lift a bit to prove he’s value for his money imo.
Re: 2019 Rd 5 V Eels: Teams and Previews
Sutton was very impressive yesterday, even more so with the conditions and being a pom.
Williams needs to get his act together defensively, he is a weak link in the chain.

They only play at Canberra one out of 10 years.

Someone in Facebook posted a stat saying Sezer has missed more tackles than Williams this season. I guess Williams gets noticed more.

It's no longer a Williams V Sezer for me, which ever gets the nod needs to be better in defence. I don't think a missed tackle count is a true indication of defensive issues.
WorkChoice
Re: 2019 Rd 5 V Eels: Teams and Previews
It’s not. It’s in fact a pretty poor indication.
We got away with a couple last night with Morgan and Gavin Cooper coming at Williams
Defensively he was good last week and was ordinary last night
He should stay in the team whilst we’re winning but his performances will need to improve if he hopes to hold the jersey.

Re: 2019 Rd 5 V Eels: Teams and Previews
I think Sutton suits lock better as Prop is usually a higher intensity but shorter stint, so his defensive work would be missed for longer. The more we have the 4 poms on the park defending together the better.
