The mind absolutely boggles, No try Williams yet same intance given to the Roosters.

Both occasions overruled by the video ref.

I shouldn't be surprised.

Tedesco sizzles as Roosters defy injuries to down Eels

The premiers beat the wooden spooners at ANZ Stadium on Friday night but you wouldn't know it from the quality of the contest, with an impressive Eels running the Roosters hard until the very end of an eventual 32-18 loss.

Manly giving NZ a touch up so far. 24 to 12 at halftime. Both sides making 80 or so metres each and every set. It's like watching a game of touch. Turbo adds so much to that terrible Manly side. RTS has also been great and a few really questionable referee decisions so far.

North Queensland Cowboys kick off in the Round 3 clash with the Cronulla Sharks in Townsville.

One other thing we know as we head into the match... the Cowboys ground announcer and constant music is one of the most annoying things in the NRL today.

The spiral of silence refers to the idea that when people fail to speak, the price of speaking rises. As the price to speak rises, still fewer speak out, which further causes the price to rise, so that fewer people yet will speak out, until a whole culture or nation is silenced. This is what happened in Germany.

If you do not speak, you are not being neutral, but are contributing to the success of the thing you refuse to name and condemn.

43rd min TRY SHARKS to Briton Nikora, Johnson kicks ahead, Te Maire Martin leaves the bouncing ball in the in goal and Nikora grounds it just inside the dead ball line. Looked a very similar grounding to Sam Williams' no try last night. The referee in this case said no try on field, and the bunker overturned. The opposite last night. Converted.

Yeah plenty did. I thought he’d be an improvement on Abbey but that’s it. Have always thought he was tremendously over rated. Penriths turnaround last year coincided with his injury and DWZ to fullback and I don’t think it’s a coincidence.

Why does the video ref continue to overturn on field calls without full evidence? It’s honestly my biggest criticism of the whole system

Agree. The same teams keep getting video refs overrule inconclusive on field referee decisions in their favour and the same teams keep getting calls go against them.

Video refs are still too concerned by what media organisations will say about their decisions. Media organisations have their favourite teams.

It seems like this year there is less weight given to the on field call which I am happy with. The Williams one was just a howler.

I’m not happy with that at all! The reason there is an onfield call is that if the video ref can’t clearly tell we have a call to go back to.

So when it’s absolutely not black and white and there’s some shade of grey in there, it just does my head in when the video ref takes it on themselves to overturn the onfield ref

Honestly, there’d be just so much less controversy around the video ref if they just took the onfield ref’s calls more often and only overturned the true “howlers”, such as Sutton’s no try on Friday

I think the bunker got the Williams try call correct. As I said before, the problem is they have overturned other on field calls (this w/e even) and got it wrong - which were no worse than Williams one.

Doggies playing well with an 18 - 0 lead at halftime. They've faded badly in all their games so interesting to see how they go.
