This is great vision on League Life to start the show... brings a tear to the eye!

John Bateman...
Big change, minus temperatures back home, came over to a week with 40C or 42C. Had to put a lot of sunscreen on.
The accent. It's been a bit of a struggle ordering food and I've been luck to have Elliott Whitehead going around with me.
Quite a few English players there now, been good for us. My agent said there were a few clubs interested, and when I found out Canberra was one of the clubs, I got straight on the phone to Elliott. The final call was with Ricky, he outlined what the club wanted to do and that sealed it for me. The passion he showed, and for the club. I decided to sign then and there.
I never expected to move to Australia. It's a massive step, but once it came about it is something I wanted to do. Moving from Bradford to Wigan was a big move to me. But I decided that if I didn't do it now, when would I ever do it? And I'm really glad I've done it now.
Coming from Bradford, people don't like it, but you love it if you're from there. You had a single mother? She really looked after us, put us first, growing up in Bradford defined me, and my mum was a big influence.
Having a child at 16? I found out when I was in maths class, I was pulled out of class and my girlfriend told me. I didn't tell my mum until she was seven months gone... it all happened quickly from there. I wouldn't change it for the world, now but at the time I thought my world was going to end. I was scared. It makes you grow up a lot faster. But it's been fantastic for me.
Milly is coming over at Easter with my mum, my brother, his two kids, my grandma. She's looking forward to it. She doesn't take much interest in the rugby, but looking to see things in Australia, going to the zoo at Canberra. New experience for my family. To get them out here, I can't wait.
Josh Hodgson...
It's been great to have some more Englishmen in the team, good for the culture. Helps others to settle in.
You were in a big family, one of seven boys, organised chaos. I've got two full brothers and step brothers... one is 45, one of my step brothers, the youngest is 25. My whole family loves rugby league, my dad used to coach amateur teams. We just loved being around it. All my brothers played at some stage, it was all we knew.
How do you cope with the loss of your brother Nathan to depression? It was four days before Christmas, we probably didn't know the extent of it. He must have been doing it really tough. I won't ever get over it, but I'll have to learn to live with it. There was 11 months between us, he was my big brother, I wanted to be better than him in everything and that's probably why I am so competitive.
I've always said everything I'll do, I want to do it my way. I've promised to bring the trophy back to him, if I win it.

Being born in York, this is fantastic.
Starting my love affair with the Raiders back in "87" was meant to be.

No one bleeds green more than Ricky Stuart... He has passion for the club and players. He grew up in Canberra, loves the place, hit the heights there and he wants it back on top. That's why he's so passionate. He doesn't like others looking down on Canberra or the club. That tie to Canberra gives him that edge.
James Graham is mortified you speak like an Aussie... you say "doona"... Yes, I have permanent residency... James Graham is doing the same thing... so all the Australian things he says, he is telling all the boys I said it.
John Bateman...
Elliott Whitehead revealed you were a young player with a rat's tail... I think I was pretty young then! You go through phases when you're young and that was mine.
Do you know what a "falcon" is? Don't know... "Meat pie"?... that's a try.

It would be some story if Ricky manages to bring the premiership home. Despite the negatives around his coaching, I’d love for him to be successful here.

I see us around August battling for that 8th Spot mathematically.
Although I’m liking that Williams is in for Sezer. We look a better team with Williams ok sit, Sezer just suffocates everything.
Hodgson plays better too when Sezer isn’t there IMO

When we have headlines referring to “Bateman” can we please specify which one as we have two in our full time squad.
Thank you.
Thank you.

Unreal place LP. My Wife and I thought it was the best city we stayed in during our 7 week tour of Britain.
My Dad was born in Bradford. Which is probably why i'm completely baffled when people keep talking about subtitles when Bateman talks. It's just dinner chat growing up for me...tobefair.
We continue to **** about with blokes that are part of some fraternity. It's infuriating.
Re: Hodgson and Bateman to appear on League Life tonight
Nice to see actor Matt Le Nevez give John Bateman a rap. He follows The GH on Twitter and Instagram pretty closely. Give him a follow.

What a joy to hear your story on @FOXNRL last night. I’m sure you’ve made milly and your family so proud. Being a @RaidersCanberra fan I am thrilled to be along for the ride. Thanks for sharing your story mate.

Whilst not going as full nego as Brew, I do hope one day someone at the club can go on one of these things and talk objectively about our direction and results as a club without resorting to the old “bleed green”. Seems like it’s just about the only criteria needed to earn yourself a $1M+ annual salary from the geniuses at Raiders HQ!

I was 4 when we came over, I'm now 42 and have a burning desire to go over. Good to hear it's such a great place.Woodgers wrote: ↑March 28, 2019, 9:24 pmUnreal place LP. My Wife and I thought it was the best city we stayed in during our 7 week tour of Britain.
