52nd min TRY ROOSTERS to Boyd Cordner. They hit straight back. The referee on field says no try, knock on. The grounding is short and then he losess possession. NO TRY correctly ruled. Looked a certain try live.

60th min TRY RABBITOHS to Cody Walker, with Adam Reynolds kick rebounding off the goal post perfectly for Walker. Adam Reynolds coverts from almost in front.

You would think that Latrell Mitchell gets a week for the swinging arm on Surgess.

68th min TRY RABBITOHS to Alex Johnston, great pass from Reynolds to set it up. Bit of a dust up post the try now. It is caused by a completely unnecessary push from Cody Walker on Cooper Cronk. The rain is back. Souths in complete control now. Reynolds converts from out wide.

The spiral of silence refers to the idea that when people fail to speak, the price of speaking rises. As the price to speak rises, still fewer speak out, which further causes the price to rise, so that fewer people yet will speak out, until a whole culture or nation is silenced. This is what happened in Germany.

If you do not speak, you are not being neutral, but are contributing to the success of the thing you refuse to name and condemn.

MATCH REPORT: Bennett era at Rabbitohs begins with win over Roosters

The Rabbitohs have launched the Wayne Bennett era by knocking off arch-rivals the Roosters 26-16 at the SCG on Friday night. With halfback Adam Reynolds producing a kicking masterclass in wet conditions, the Bunnies took revenge for a loss in last year's preliminary final and gave the supercoach the ideal start to his tenure at Redfern.

I switched off Fox and "The Professor" and switched over to Nine. Only to be faced with Brad Fittler and Sam Thaiday. Why do the broadcasters stuff their commentary teams with buffoons?

I am too. Didn't really follow the Knights V Sharks closely, given Mounties were playing. But there have been a couple of very high quality games the past two nights. The Raiders looked pretty clunky in trials in comparison.

Me too. We're going to get absolutely manhandled in the ruck, even Croker won't be able to milk any penalties.

Sounds like the reffing this year will favour fitter packs. Less breaks in play.

The roosters didn't lose because they "missed fergo", they lost because of their atrocious completion rate and Adam Reynold's control. The rabbits should be worried how easy the roosters were walking it in once they held a little ball and got down the other end.

The Knights were plain ordinary in both trials, especially against Sharks in Maitland. Then when there's points on the line they bring it all together..

Let's just relax, I think we'll be OK. A loss isn't our season after all.

Unfortunately we've looked fit once in the last decade or so.
Who was suggesting that the Roosters lost because of no Fergo, I missed the post game?

I should have known. Sure he'll be missed but those battlers in the Eastern suburbs were lucky enough to replace him with a Morris and Ryan Hall, so I think they'll manage.
Weird the injury/non injury to Keary. Looked like he had done something serious to his arm or shoulder. I'll have to have a dig around to see if there was anything there.
Souths played well but their depth is worrying.

Dogs are getting smashed. Warriors have been good but the Dogs equally as bad.

Didn't they say they focused on defence this pre-season?

46th min TRY WARRIORS to Roger Tuivasa Shek. That was just far too easy for the Warriors, they go 80 metres in the set. The Bulldogs look hopelessly out-classed. Adam Keighran converts. 12 points so far on debut.

60th min TRY WARRIORS to Solomone Kata. Checking for obstruction on Lachlan Lewis, but Lewis makes the decision to go in. The video referee agrees. Terrific try, the Warriors attack is on fire. Adam Keighran converts. In the battle of the young halves, Keighran is coming out well on top of Lachlan Lewis.

Emotional Warriors put on a show to thump Bulldogs

The New Zealand Warriors provided their anguished citizens with a ray of sunshine on an otherwise dark day with Saturday’s comprehensive 40-6 triumph over the Canterbury Bulldogs at Mt Smart Stadium.

On a day of mourning for the entire nation after Friday’s mass shooting at Christchurch, the Warriors clinically worked their way to a 22-0 half-time lead before emphatically finishing the job in the second half to claim an impressive season-opening win.
