It may just be my pessimistic nature but does anyone else always assume an ex-Raider playing his first game against us is a shoe in for Dally M points?

Canberra Raiders co-captain Josh Hodgson looks to unlock secret to September

Canberra Raiders co-captain Josh Hodgson has had enough of sitting at home in September.

"We’ve got such strike weapons, especially on the edges. We know we can score points, that’s never been one of our downfalls," Hodgson said. "We’ve scored plenty of points before and not made the eight, so it’s about really fixing up our defence and making sure we’re consistent there.

Sure is Hodgo. I hope the off season defensive focus bears fruit.

It's all about having a winning mentality, something we will get with Bateman.

Personally will end up being an NRL gun by the end of the year, a little biased.

Canberra Raiders acknowledge close game problems

Canberra has embraced working with a sports psychologist as they look to turn around a dire record in tight NRL games.

"We've sort of built our leadership group around that and with our coaching staff," Jarrod Croker said. "We've probably got a quite simple game plan and game management set-up around that now. We can sit here and say we've done all the hard work ... but at the end of the day nothing's going to come of it unless we win a few tight games."

Nitpicking. But if a back is injured you don’t only pick one back up back in the 9 reserves. Williams would be there as well to cover injuries.

To avoid any confusion I think The Greenhouse should have count down timers for TLT, Game Day Kick Off and The Rickman's Pick... Man

Canberra Raiders forward Josh Papalii preparing for emotional clash with former teammate Shannon Boyd

Star Canberra forward Josh Papalii is preparing for an emotional round one NRL clash with former teammate Shannon Boyd.

"It will be real emotional playing Boydy, coming up through the (under) 20s with Shannon and then playing NRL together," Papalii said. "He was a massive loss to the Raiders but we've got some young boys coming through now and I'm excited to see them step up.

I’d be very, very surprised if Dunamis Lui is named ahead of Guler, Hunt, Bateman, Collins or Murchie who all weren’t named there considering he was left out of our trial team and played a Robb massey trial in its place.
well, I guess you could say that I'm buy curious.

Agreed, which is why he's not in my team. I doubt Sutton will play either, although I'm sure he'll get his chance down the track.

I don't believe that trial took place. But he did play the Mounties NSW Cup trial the following week.

We just have to pick Guler and Horsburgh. You would think Sia would come off the bench to keep the intensity once the first forwards have done their stint, though I wouldn't mind him on for line speed against Boyd. I don't mind who starts between Lui and Hunt, just please, please, no Luke Bateman.

Guler and Co haven't proved themselves to be any better than Dunamis Lui. However Lui needs to be fit and been good in preseason. The fact he didn't play in the top trial could mean he didn't have a good preseason and has dropped back, or could be some other weird reason. But Lui was good last year, so if he's got himself in good nick then he should be in the team IMO

Canberra Raiders forward Josh Papalii fit and firing for NRL opener

Josh Papalii still hasn't forgotten the blast he received from Canberra coach Ricky Stuart last NRL season, when he returned from the World Cup over weight.

"I worked pretty hard to get back to where I should have been so it feels good to come back day one ready to go and feeling pretty healthy."
