Believe George Williams' NRL move could come in 2020, and it would see him link up with John Bateman and Ryan Sutton at Canberra Raiders. @leagueexpress for full details.

This would be amazing, therefore, I do not believe it.

Expect the NRL to change the rules and only allow a certain number of players from the old dart.

Except we will have no money to sign him because we panic-bought Chad “The Chad” Townsend in 2019...

Could English half George Williams be set to join the journey from Wigan to Canberra in 2020?

Rugby Leaguer and League Express magazine is reporting that the Canberra Raiders is set to offer Wigan half George Williams a three year deal from 2020.

The UK magazine says that their sources suggest the 24 year has held discussions with the Raiders and Williams would be likely prepared to leave Wigan early - but a deal would require a transfer fee to be agreed by the Wigan Warriors. Williams is contracted to the Warriors for a further two seasons.

Williams has previously said that if there was a serious opportunity to move to the NRL he would like to pursue that.

The Warriors turned down a £400,000 transfer offer for Williams in 2017, when he then also had two years left on his contract.

League Express magazine says that a Canberra spokesman had “cooled” speculation a deal had already be done.

I think these guys are a good source for UK stuff. I might be wrong but I think they had the Sutton and Bateman moves early.

So if the deal is from 2020, the intention would be to get him to sign, and come over a year early yeah?
Surely he’d be getting homesick for Canberra or something?

If this is true then I hope it's to replace Sezer rather than shifting Wighton back to fullback. I'm of the view that if we're gonna do this Wighton to 5/8 thing, then we need to follow through with it rather than just doing it as a stop gap.

This is what he said last year about a move to the NRL.

England playmaker keen to live out his NRL dream

England playmaker George Williams has confirmed his desire to play in the NRL.

"It is something I have always dreamt to do so I definitely want to give it a go if there is a chance. Wigan would have to agree but if the NRL was an opportunity for me I would love to move to Australia to take that up."

What happens if Jack carves it up at 5/8th? This becomes a Sezer upgrade?

I'm sceptical that this article is a few years old and someone has just done a simple find/replace function on a word doc looking for the word Sam and replace it with George.
We continue to **** about with blokes that are part of some fraternity. It's infuriating.

Yea problem is Sezer is really more of a 6 too, A lot of people reckon he was a 7 at The titans But Even Sezer himself has recently stated he was always a 5/8 there and has had trouble being the halfback at Canberra
Complicating matters is that Sezer himself is unsure where his best spot is – at No.7 or No.6.

"I'm not too sure, you know. All my younger grades, and my first four years in first grade, were at five-eighth," he said.

If the plan is to pair him with Sezer or another half in 2020 then I'm not sure I really understand moving Wighton to the halves for this season?

So we write off a year? Don't do everything we can to try and make the 8?
Signing someone for 2020 should have zero impact on what we do for round 1 2019.

Not what I'm suggesting in the slightest.

What I mean is, if we are committed to making Wighton a 5/8, we should be looking to sign a fullback for 2020 rather than another half. If Wighton to 5/8 is a stop gap move, I think we would've been better off playing S. Williams/Hingano and Sezer as our halves for this season.

Which will coincide with the NRL pushing for England to play a 5 test series against France starting in October and a clubs refusal to release players is met with fines or suspensions
