Walters would be fine. If he can make nikorima look half competent as a half he can do things with Sezer and wighton

I somehow seriously doubt that. The Broncos moved him on from any assistant coaching role, and they've looked elsewhere twice when considering a head coach. He does OK as a rep coach... but there you have probably have Cameron Smith captain-coaching the Maroons.

Agree GE. Don't rate Walters. Highly rate M Johns. the bloke has a long history of getting the best out of halves. I wonder if it's someone like blocker to help with the young forwards..

I feel like Walters sounds a lot dumber than he is.

I should think Brett White is just is just as capable in helping the young forwards as Steve Roach.

Ennis . Seriously , this is not a drill.

Michael Ennis joins Canberra Raiders as coaching consultant

The Raiders have scored a coup by signing former Blues State of Origin hooker and TV commentator Michael Ennis as a specialist consultant coach. Ennis will help in the coaching of all the Raiders forwards but specifically hooker Josh Hodgson. The Englishman is already rated as one of the best hookers in the NRL and the Raiders are quietly confident that under Ennis’ tuition, his game will rise to a whole new level.

Great signing. If he were to ever leave the cushy confines of Fox League HQ in search of a Head Coaching gig in the NRL I would be very happy if Ennis were to replace Ricky as Head Coach.

I think it’s a great signing. I was not that long ago he was playing against us deep in the finals so he would have a great point of view from an opposition perspective.

This is for tough, mongrel, winning attitude and a bloke that’s been a part of the modern game, I actually like it. I’d love a piss take press conference apologising to raiders fans.

Probably wants to size up the bloke they're calling the grub...

While I can see his appeal, I still haven't forgiven him for the Viking clap. Although, if he helps us get the most out of our squad all will be forgiven.

It says he's been signed specifically to work with Josh Hodgson?

He was obviously a great footballer, but if there's one player we have who is already a genuinely world-class footballer isn't it Hodgo?

I'm not sure how he's going to improve the current ENG hookers game.

And to be honest the thought of Michael Ennis in Canberra helping out after the way he mocked our home fans a few years ago leaves me a little shocked....

I hope Mick enjoys his time with our squad and has a positive input..

As someone familiar with the Gallup Strengths program and with a wife who's a business coach, I'm pretty familiar with the subject.

Roger Federer talks about this a lot.

Re your defence comment, if we truly maximised our abilities with the ball and controlling possession, our defensive liabilities would have less of an impact.

It's not black and white, but a lot of time can be wasted trying to fix something that can't be shifted in certain individuals, rather than maxing out what they're good at.

Lets face it, as Co-captain, Josh is much more likely to get away with grubbiness, and who better to teach him than 'Ennis the Menace'?'

I never liked Ennis, but I had to respect him.

I think this is a good move for 2 reasons:

-It signifies a change of tact from Head Office. he is not an 'old boy', he was potentially the most hated man in recent years. But he has a quality footy brain and Im happy that the club has started to look past things like history with the club, and focus on effectiveness.

-Like Matty Johns, Ennis was never the most talented, which is why I thin he will make an excellent specialist coach. He had to be smarter than the others to reach the heights he did. Someone made a comment here recently that the natural talents like Ricky didn't make good teachers, as they never had to work quite as hard as the blokes with slightly less talent levels.

It will be very interesting to see if we improve our wrestle, and general grubbiness under his tutelage.

We deserve/d to be mocked. The Viking clap should be reserved for the end of the game - after we win. I think it would have more meaning that way.

it's exactly what Griffin did at Penrith, he added the worst defender in the nrl to fix his team defensively, Maloney, improved their attack and end of sets which in turn released a stack of pressure off their defence.
Too often on tackle 4 and 5 the raiders were adlib attacking and leaving the halves in poor kicking position.
