Re: The Cricket Thread
Reckon Hurricanes have a fair bit on the rest at the moment. Faulkner to come back in for Meredith and they're very strong both bat and ball. Stars, if they make it, have the firepower to knock them off. Don't think Rengades bats are good enough and Sixers are solid but not up to the others at their best.

I agree with all that...
My only concern for the Hurricanes is if Wade and Short fail, their middle to lower order haven’t had much batting time, which ‘could’ prove difficult

Re: The Cricket Thread
That may prove their achilles heel. Milenko at no6 has hardly batted this series except for a couple of late over slapathons. If they lose a few early and need him to play a longer innings he could get found out. What I found really bizarre was yesterday when they had a chance give these guys some time at the crease they stuck with their regular batting or order.Dusty wrote: ↑February 10, 2019, 1:20 pmNorthern Raider wrote:Reckon Hurricanes have a fair bit on the rest at the moment. This makes almost no sense regarding what I wrote (apart from the sarcastic bit about me having greater insight. That’s on the money without the sarcasm ). If you can link the rest to something I said that’d be helpful.Northern Raider wrote:Ok you obviously know what was going to happen in the following 17 overs that didnt take place. I don't. I was using some examples if how games can turn around, particulary with the team in question. You have stated mitigating factors in those games assuming none of those could have taken place in this match had it continued. Fair enough as you obviously have far greater insight than me into circumstances that didn't get the opportunity to play out.

The Stars won so it’s all moot anyway, glad our season wasn’t decided by a single set of lights going out at the ground.

I don’t mean to upset you when you’ve found peace with what’s happened...
But Thunder with the extra point would have gone through ahead of the Stars on run rate.

Haha, let it go fellas. Its tough enough being a Raiders fan. Don't beat yourselves up following Thunder as well.
I don't think this has worked out too wells for Hurricanes having to face Stars in the semi. Probably the team thats the biggest threat to them. Winner of that game should win the final.

Well deserved. Might be the first bowling captain we've had in some time for the national side.

Hurricanes are the best batting side but a lot will come down to how the young Afgahni spinner handles the pressure imo.Northern Raider wrote: ↑February 10, 2019, 12:55 pm Reckon Hurricanes have a fair bit on the rest at the moment. I also think of the openers fail you can book Hobart in for a loss straight away.
well, I guess you could say that I'm buy curious.

Qais Ahmed looks good so far but agree, we need to see how he goes when the games get serious.julian87 wrote: ↑February 12, 2019, 10:18 amHurricanes are the best batting side but a lot will come down to how the young Afgahni spinner handles the pressure imo.Northern Raider wrote: ↑February 10, 2019, 12:55 pm Reckon Hurricanes have a fair bit on the rest at the moment. Its hard to say how the Canes other bats will go if Wade and Short both go cheap as it hasn't happened yet. McDermott and Bailey have both looked solid. Not sold on Jewell as yet. Only got one score and that was against Heat bowling massive pies. Milenko might not even remember how to bat.

They were saying there were only tickets left on the hill in Hobart. But lots of vacant grandstand seats. Maybe they should become the Canberra Cold Front. They’d sell out here!

Re: The Cricket Thread
Stars are first team through to the final on Sunday. Hurricanes didn't set a good enough target. Use of bowlers and field placement not great either. I'll call it a choke by the Canes.

Re: The Cricket Thread
Hurricanes were the dominant team throughout the season. It’s fair to call that a choke

Re: The Cricket Thread
Whoever wins tonight gets the home final so could be in either Sydney or Melbourne. The latter would almost guarantee a big crowd even though they only have 2 days to promote and sell tickets. Sydney final could be more of a challenge as the public there has shown they need about 6 months to decide whether they will attend an event.
One of the changes for next season could be a pre-determined final venue. I reckon Adelaide would be the perfect one to test this at. Its such a great venue for spectators and the deck is one all teams like playing on. With a full season to promote the game and for people to plan travel it could well be a sell out. Obviously with tickets held back for fans of the teams who make the final.
