Tell me why we havent been looking into Jennings?
I mean, Im not exactly a fan of Cotric at FB, but surely, if the coaching staff see this as an option, Jennings would be a great addition on the wing to fill that void.
I can only see two options as to why.

1. We are confident we have someone lined up, or;
2. We have a completely inept recruitment department.
Can't it be both?

Son, we live in a world that has forums, and those forums have to be guarded by Mods. Who's gonna do it? You? You, Nickman? I have a greater responsibility than you can possibly fathom. You weep for Lucy, and you curse GE. You have that luxury. You have the luxury of not knowing what I know -- that GE’s moderation, while tragic, probably saved lives; and my existence, while grotesque and incomprehensible to you, keeps threads on track and under the appropriately sized, highlighted green headings.
You want moderation because deep down in places you don't talk about at parties, you want me on that forum -- you need me on that forum. We use words like "stay on topic," "use the appropriate forum," "please delete." We use these words as the backbone of a life spent defending something. You use them as a punch line. I have neither the time nor the inclination to explain myself to a man who rises and sleeps under the blanket of the very moderation that I provide and then questions the manner in which I provide it. I would rather that you just said "thank you" and went on your way. Otherwise, I suggest you get a green handle and edit a post. Either way, I don't give a DAMN what you think about moderation.

“The club has confirmed they’ve looked to the market for Barba’s replacement and have made inquiries about Alex Johnston from the Rabbitohs and Matt Dufty from the Dragons.”

The simple answer is yes, however, Gus has publicly said no, and by all accounts he is currently winning that battle for the #1 at Panthers, this would be my obvious NRL ready backup/ alternate option.

Not sure he is only worth a tick over min wage, which is all we get as Rapa's compensation. But Id argue he is worth less than Edwards, but ultimately gives us a similar solution (assuming Cotric moves to 1 with Jack at 6)
Meaning, if we had say even 150k in the kitty, plus rapanas compensation, maybe Jennings on around 300k would suit everyone, surely they could scrape that together

So if CNK was player 29 and Raiders haven’t used the Rapana cover, which is a capped amount.. that’ll be the last of the signings for 2019 ?

Am I right in thinking that rapanas cap relief player is outside the top 30?

The cap only applies to the top 30, so cap relief can only relate to a top 30 player.

I can't recall seeing CNK play so I can't make a call on him, but a Warriors reserve grader may be our new FB?
Good Luck mate. I hope you are a vast improvement on Abbey.

9 News reported Segeyaro is currently without a NRL deal and working in a coffee shop. Which suggests minimum wage would get him. Worth a gamble at that price imo.

He's a good player but I think with hodgo and havili we have the hooker spot covered

Re: Raiders player signing speculation 2019

Post by edwahu »

If he is playing at his best you'd have to pick him ahead of Havilli. We need a 3rd hooker anyway though and he is as good as you could get for a low range contract.

It's probably worth spending the money just so he doesn't play us. He usually carves us up.

Pretty easy to figure out why he is without a club. Hard pass even if he was cheap.

To think he went through all that stuff to get out of a plumb ESL contract, to wind up working in a coffee shop just three years later

Mate. Rapana was unwanted before he got a break to play first grade with us. Cody walker languished in reserve grade before getting his chance in his mid 20s. There are countless stories like these so let's not write him off too quickly.

Also I really don't get the hate for Abbey. I saw every game he had for us at full back and I think he showed lots of potential. He seemed to pop up at the right place at the right time. Trouble for him is that he seems to drop his lollies a few too many times for my liking but im sure that'll improve with experience (as it did for rapana). I'm assuming that people are writing him off based on his reggies finals performance which is incredibly misguided in my opinion.

Frog, I truly hope he is a vast improvement on Abbey who's defence is a long way short of FG. Abbey has neither the technique nor physicality for a defensive last line where one on one tackles are part of the job.

We should of used the Ropana money ($175 roughly) plus what ever minimum was to sign Jordan Kahu.

He will not win you a comp but he was playing reserve grade this season and he is a hell of a lot better (and pedigree) than Abbey and the other possibilities we are left with

They’re still paying the penalty on the cap, but it’s finalised.
