yeah pretty sure one of the Raiders players mentioned 2 trials in one of their interviews recently.

Also I believe that the Samoan world cup fat camp was a lot more detrimental to start of year fitness than having 1 trial rather than 2.

Ferguson in hospital with an infection from a cut on his foot. I really think he is going to be a dud buy for them.

He had a sensational season at the Roosters this year but I can’t see the Eels getting the best out of him.

Depends on the players around him. When he was here he managed to keep it together even with the team crumbling around him. He was poor when he first left and took until 2018 to regain the form he showed here. Giving up the booze, if indeed that is actually true, seems to have helped him but eels is a basket case so anything could happen?

Fergo is very much like carney. You need someone to mother/father them.

At the raiders carney had shif but when he left and noone took up the " father" role things fell apart.

Earl was fergo's father role here then when he left Dugan took on the role of "manipulator" which created pineapple cruiser gate.

At the roosters they put one of their physios on the job
It was Louisa 's job to keep touching base, talking to him and checking he was going ok.
Louisa is now at the knights

Parra don't have the staff to do that nor senior players to take the role.

Junior will also go backwards without sia and papa

They've got a poor roster. They probably won't see the best of him but they are definitely going to benefit a great deal from his carries. They haven't had something close to a good returner since Radradra left.

Hoping Wighton does not get picked again for the Aboriginal All Stars so he can get a couple of trials under his belt playing 5/8

By the way, if you’re travelling a long distance to this game, there is a one year old Holiday Inn which is now part of the St Marys Leagues Club complex. Looks good.

Yeah it’s not a bad spot. I sussed the place out the other day. They have a ropes course on site http://skypeak.com.au

Perhaps a pre-game fan bonding session could be on the cards

I won't be climbing up any ropes, but if people want to meet up for a drink post match...! I'll be staying at the Holiday Inn on the Friday night, then heading to the Jersey Flegg trial at Camden.

I can't believe it is only 2 weeks to the first trial game. I was just looking at the first 2 rounds. How did the NRL manage to have a team with a 5 day turn around end up playing a team with a 7 day turn around in week 2? If they were ever going to make it fairly even on turn arounds you would think round 1 and 2 should be pretty easy to get right.

The spiral of silence refers to the idea that when people fail to speak, the price of speaking rises. As the price to speak rises, still fewer speak out, which further causes the price to rise, so that fewer people yet will speak out, until a whole culture or nation is silenced. This is what happened in Germany.

If you do not speak, you are not being neutral, but are contributing to the success of the thing you refuse to name and condemn.

Canberra Raiders fans will have to wait to see a Sezer-Wighton halves combination

Canberra fans will have to wait two more weeks before they get a glimpse of new halves combination Jack Wighton and Aidan Sezer. It is unlikely they'll play on Friday night in the trial against Parramatta.

The Raiders will use the trial as an opportunity for younger players on development and train-and-trial contracts to press their case for selection. Charnze Nicoll-Klokstad and Ryan Sutton could get a run, but fellow English recruit John Bateman won’t take the field. A squad of about 22 players will travel to Sydney for the trial. A full squad will play at Bega against the Canterbury Bulldogs.

So for everyone who thought that two trials was the club learning from the mistakes of the past... think again!

We have a whole host of new combinations to try out in the forwards, the halves/spine... and I won't be at all surprised if the leading players again only get 40 minutes in one trial, just like the last couple of years.

I look forward to going 0/4 and our season being over in April...

New halves combination and fullback? Let’s work out combinations in games that count for something. Fair dinkum...
