Santa Claus has been..

I love the jolly old fella.
Merry Christmas everyone.

We're off to Stockton today for lunch. Mrs PJ is up and about after her op and is keen to catch up with the family.

We won't stay too long though, the moment the missus gives me the secret hand signal we leave.

She has a fool proof plan to go home and rest...

Merry Christmas, you loveable rogues, you.

Quiet one at the TR Cantonment this year, but after a busy year desperate to go to ground for the day with the family.

Wishing you all the best, each and all.

Son, we live in a world that has forums, and those forums have to be guarded by Mods. Who's gonna do it? You? You, Nickman? I have a greater responsibility than you can possibly fathom. You weep for Lucy, and you curse GE. You have that luxury. You have the luxury of not knowing what I know -- that GE’s moderation, while tragic, probably saved lives; and my existence, while grotesque and incomprehensible to you, keeps threads on track and under the appropriately sized, highlighted green headings.
You want moderation because deep down in places you don't talk about at parties, you want me on that forum -- you need me on that forum. We use words like "stay on topic," "use the appropriate forum," "please delete." We use these words as the backbone of a life spent defending something. You use them as a punch line. I have neither the time nor the inclination to explain myself to a man who rises and sleeps under the blanket of the very moderation that I provide and then questions the manner in which I provide it. I would rather that you just said "thank you" and went on your way. Otherwise, I suggest you get a green handle and edit a post. Either way, I don't give a DAMN what you think about moderation.

Merry Christmas from Leeton.

The spiral of silence refers to the idea that when people fail to speak, the price of speaking rises. As the price to speak rises, still fewer speak out, which further causes the price to rise, so that fewer people yet will speak out, until a whole culture or nation is silenced. This is what happened in Germany.

If you do not speak, you are not being neutral, but are contributing to the success of the thing you refuse to name and condemn.

Merry xmas all. I've been at a family breakfast with beers and a big feed, a family lunch with a big feed and beers. About to start cooking a big dinner, with some nice wine. If I survive see you all in the new year :)

Happy New Year from The Greenhouse

Image

New Year's Eve... so it is time to wish all the members and followers of The Greenhouse a very Happy New Year! It was a disappointing year for Canberra Raiders fans and the club, again missing the finals in 2018. But for football fans, hope springs eternal. Hopefully, the lessons of the past two seasons have been learned. Hopefully, we see some finals football next year. And hopefully, we see a long awaited premiership arrive in 2019.

It was, as always, another big season for The Greenhouse. We now have over 3,400 members of TheGH.com.au and over 27,000 unique users of the site on average per month - with a monthly peak over 40,000 users. The site averages over 900,000 page views per month - with a monthly peak of over 1.6 million.

The Greenhouse also has 30,000 followers on Facebook, over 7,400 on Twitter and over 4,500 on Instagram. On all our social media platforms, including Pinterest, we now have over 48,000 followers.

It's thanks to you, the members and followers of the site, for continuing to make The Greenhouse the number one Canberra Raiders supporters website! Merry Christmas and Happy New Year to you all!

Happy new year and a Merry xmas to you all! I look forward to some extremely spirited arguments about why I'm wrong in the coming year.
