Re: Canberra Raiders 2019 squad
I can’t see him playing any less than 60. With his style of play and size he could go the 80 if required.

Re: Canberra Raiders 2019 squad
I wouldn't want him playing any more than 60 week to week. Long season + origin we don't want him burnt out by round 14. 60 is pretty much ideal with that 10min break either side of the half.
If Tapine or Whitehead shift to the middle as well I'd be expecting 60 from them.

Assuming our pack is:
8. Sutton
9. Hodgson
10. Papalii
11. Tapine
12. Whitehead
13. J. Bateman
14. Havili
15. Soliola
16. Guler
17. L. Bateman (you know he’ll be there)
If Papalii plays 60 and our 11 and 12 play 80, J. Bateman plays big mins, Ricky’s use of the bench will be very interesting

I'd be surprised if Bateman doesn't play 80, that's kind of his thing.

I tend to agree.edwahu wrote:I'd be surprised if Bateman doesn't play 80, that's kind of his thing.
So that could mean that our bench will share 20 of Papalii’s minutes and approximately 40 mins of the other (Sutton or whoever it is) props minutes.

Lui will start or be first man off the bench. If Sutton is in the team, that means Luke Bateman is out.Dusty wrote: ↑December 23, 2018, 6:39 am Assuming our pack is:

I don’t think the club is as tied to Luke as some think. He was only offered a one-year deal remember.
The minutes will be interesting. Papa will play 60 for sure. It’s a waste otherwise. J. Bateman can go 80 but I don’t reckon he will initially while it’s hot and he’s adjusting to the NRL.
But I still can’t quite see how the rest of the bench gets time when Elliott and Tapine don’t need to come off.

I forgot about Lui

As if we needed more proof that Soward is a muppet.
My memory is that Bateman wanted a longer contract but the club only offered one year. But that he was hoping to prove in that one year that he was worth an extension.
You might be right though. Either way, the club is clearly not paying him much.

If it was Wighton on the wing with Cotric at FB I could deal with the stupid suggestion

Re: Canberra Raiders 2019 squad
its obvious soward still remembers being knocked out cold by wighton
Re: Canberra Raiders 2019 squad
I think Tapine especially (Whitehead perhaps) would benefit from playing 60 rather than 80. Havilli could do that too, Or Sia.
Re: Canberra Raiders 2019 squad
I think you are right about Papa at Prop, Zim. 30 minutes on, then 30 minutes off (including half time), then the final 30 minutes. In the early part of the season Guler to replace Papa as he continues to find his feet in FG. I think Guler will get longer minutes as the season progresses.zim wrote: ↑December 23, 2018, 1:21 am I wouldn't want him playing any more than 60 week to week. Re: Canberra Raiders 2019 squad
Not quite sure where to put this... Shame, I'd have liked him to stay in the Mounties system at least.

He is a good kid, Matt. I would have liked to see him persevere with Mounties too.
