Australia under done with their side in both Batting due to suspension and Bowling due to injury. As we have proved over the years we struggle against competent spin bowling. In the final match to be bowled out in less than 35 overs is poor. To then go close to winning the match by having England 9 down in the 48th over shows there is some fight in the side.

Once Stark, Hazelwood and Cummins are again available the bowling will look much better. The likes of Glenn Maxwell, who missed the final two games and possibly Steve Smith returning for the next World Cup will bolster the batting. I think we only batted for the full 50 overs once out of 5 matches. That is clearly the worst stat in a 50 over format. Not being able to bat out 50 overs. Usman has shown he does not play spin well so I don't see him going to England next year.

I agree with everything you said but..

Show some pride, stand up and be counted.

We are Australians..we fight.

This mob showed no fight. What a terrible display from professional cricketers donning our colours.

PS. When you win a toss...you bat !!!!!

I see Uzi has put his 3rd county ton up overnight.
He and Renshaw are piling up runs in county cricket this yr.
That's good news.

Getting Pattinson fit again, along with the other 3, will help too.

We are nowhere near good enough to be winning the toss and electing to bowl unless the pitch is a minefield.

Good thing Smith and Warner (as much as he irks me) will be available for the WC, because we ain't going anywhere with this current mob.

I know I am being unreasonable after a bloke has 'served his time' but I really don't want Warner anywhere near the Australian side again. Go and earn a fortune in IPL but don't come back to the Green and Gold. I don't think there is any doubt over who initiated the deliberate cheating. Sure Smith was soft in the head as Captain to go along and I don't think he should ever have the 'c' beside his name again but Warner for mine is not what Australia needs in the aftermath of deliberately cheating. Send a message Cricket Australia. Just don't pick him.

PJ, even our front liners don't play spin well. England had the right team to dominate our weakened batting. I agree with your point about winning the toss and batting, depending on the conditions. However, Australia was flogged batting either first or second. We have to be able to play out the 50 overs to give ourselves a chance. The wickets around Australia are being flattened out for T20 imo. The batsmen don't get the opportunity to hone their skills against spin. They will face plenty of it in the World Cup because every side knows our weakness.

Smith will no doubt captain Australia again. I'm ok with that.

As much as I'd like to not see Warner back, he probably will be back.

I think the hypo-bowl about Warner compared to Smith is a joke, they both hit a cricket ball for a living and both got completely hung out to dry by the Aust media and public. They both needed better leadership from above to handle the situations as it should have been.

It's not just the ball tampering. Warner has been a terrible representative for Australia and sets a terrible example for youngsters watching the game. He's constantly crossing the line between competitiveness and just being a jerk, and giving the country a bad name. It would have been a travesty to have him captain the test team ever. I'm glad he has a life ban from the captaincy.

I get a feeling that within the playing group theres some teammates who don't like him much.

We've all seen the onfield confrontations which in my opinion are cringeworthy.

Just play cricket and cut the rubbish..

He just irks me as a man..

His talent alone has him picked everyday but it's his persona..the guys a jerk.

BTW... we actually won a game.
Stanlake destroyed the Paki top order, with Finchy taking catches. He then turned to smashing boundaries.

Check the bookies books
Gina Riley: Oh, come on, John. That’s a bit old hat, the corrupt IOC delegate.
John Clarke: Old hat? Gina, in the scientific world when they see that something is happening again and again and again, repeatedly, they don’t call it old hat. They call it a pattern.

Im guessing this isnt yet another sub continent type dust bowl, but rather a totally flat dead pitch.

Uzi and Finch have already knocked off a quarter of the Paki total. Looks like they are doing it easy as.

Yep..today's version of all those guys.

I didn't think we'd have a sporting team sucking harder than the Wallabies.

It's pretty grim and I've got tickets to the Sydney test. I haven't been paying attention but I think it's vs India. There are some major warning signs that they will slaughter us.

I suppose the real Q at this point is. Who should we be picking who is any better? 1stly, doesnt help that we are down 3 of our best quicks; not that you play them all in Asia.

1st mistake for mine was not picking Maxwell. Surely he is better than Labuschagne. For all his faults, he is still a more talented player.
Where do the likes of Burns (not contracted to CA), Cartwright (not contracted to CA), Handscomb, Renshaw, Stoinis fit in? Are any better options than what we have?

I also know we are devoid of leadership, BUT, is Paine the answer? Or even the best keeper option? Im sure they have a fine line to walk here, but surely with Smith and Warner gone, you tear the place down and rebuild. Even if that is how you have to spin it. In other words, do you need Carey behind the stumps?
