Canberra Raiders V South Sydney Rabbitohs
Saturday 25 August 3:00pm
Canberra Stadium
Tickets: Click here
TV coverage: Fox League Channel 502
Radio: ABC, 2CC, Mix 106.3

It took until Round 23, but the Raiders finally beat a top eight team in 2018! The Roosters officially now have a Canberra Stadium hoodoo, after suffering a two point loss to the Raiders... when the Roosters' minor premiership was on the line. Remarkably, the Roosters scored two tries to one, but the Raiders ground it out with penalty goals. The Raiders are again at home in Round 24 for a meeting with the South Sydney Rabbitohs, another team vying for the minor premiership. Who should line up for the Raiders in the upcoming clash? Tell us your team here and see how you go in comparison to the official squad when announced. We will include the official line ups in the first post of this thread as soon as they're available.

Same team that beat the top 4 team, thanks. not the one that lost to a bottom 4 team.
Gina Riley: Oh, come on, John. That’s a bit old hat, the corrupt IOC delegate.
John Clarke: Old hat? Gina, in the scientific world when they see that something is happening again and again and again, repeatedly, they don’t call it old hat. They call it a pattern.

Emre looked great. Should be picked for the remaining games. Should be in the 17 for round 1.
He finds his front a lot.

Couldn't agree more about Guler getting a run from here on in. I think he can eventually be our starting prop. Never got turtled and managed to always gain a couple metres even while going down.

Seems like a humble bloke too!

Thought Guler was great in his debut. Needs to stay in the top 17.

I'd like to see both Guler and Murchie play with an eye to 2019.

There's some interesting comparisons with Vaughan. Similar shape. Slow play the ball. ;)

It’s funny you say that, because my mate who’s involved with St George said PTB is an area they have tried to focus on with Vaughan over the past 18 months.

When he is playing well, he is moving at speed and playing the ball faster. If he gets slow, it creeps across his entire game.

Re: 2018 Rd 24 V Rabbitohs: Teams and Previews

Guler's PTB was 3.3 seconds, standard front row stuff. Tapine bossed it with 2.2 seconds. FTR Vaughn clocks low to mid 3s most games.

The stats must be pretty rubbery though, I assume it's from the point the ref calls held until the ball clears the foot, having humans timing that would have a big margin of error. If the player gets injured and gets up slowly it would also stuff the stats.

Canberra Raiders debutant Emre Guler sets sights on hunting South Sydney Rabbitohs

He'll never forget his debut. Now Canberra Raiders debutant Emre Guler has set his sights on finishing the season in the NRL and especially taking on his former club.

"I'm hoping I didn't look out of place. I just want to keep playing NRL until it's finished hopefully and just keep building a platform and build on top of that," he said. "Hopefully I can play Souths. They were my junior club so it would be good to get a win over them too.

Canberra Raiders half Sam Williams calls for Green Machine to back up against South Sydney

It was the Canberra Raiders' best win of the season, but halfback Sam Williams says they need to show some character and do it all again against South Sydney.

"It was a great win and everyone's got a good feeling, but we need to show a little bit of character next week and back it up against a really good team and finish this season as well as we can," Williams said. "We can then sit down at the end of the season and look at things and where we can improve. But right now we've got to finish the season well and reward the people that come out to these sort of games."

One thing that Sam really needs to work on is making sure he stays on the outside of the person he is marking because he ain't getting any help from BJ on his outside so he needs the help from his inside men.

it's our structure on that edge, bj plays his man the half shoots up and the backrower covers across behind

If he did he played over 70 mins with it they strapped it around the 6 minute mark. You would think the Raiders woud have said something if he did

Whilst disappointing if true, Hopefully it forces Ricky’s hand to play Murchie. Which in the end will benefit him and the team more in the long run.

It's official.

Canberra Raiders forward Joe Tapine out for the remainder of the season with broken thumb

Joe Tapine has been ruled out for the remainder of the season after scans confirmed a broken thumb from Sunday's win over the Roosters.

If Oldie and Sezer are fit, i like this team.

If 1 is fit, Austin fills in for the other.

If neither are fit, Murchie plays. TBH, i hope he plays anyway, just not sure who for.

3. Whitehead
6. Austin
11. Sia
12. Papalii
13. Bateman

15. Murchie

Bit of a mess.
