Gina Riley: Oh, come on, John. That’s a bit old hat, the corrupt IOC delegate.
John Clarke: Old hat? Gina, in the scientific world when they see that something is happening again and again and again, repeatedly, they don’t call it old hat. They call it a pattern.

Hull KR release former Canberra Raiders player Andrew Heffernan with immediate effect
Hull KR have released Andrew Heffernan from his contract and he has returned to Australia to continue his recovery from a long-standing concussion. This can be fixed up a little. But FPN's on the books to give it a little nudge for the Red Dogs in 2019/2020.

Former Canberra Raiders forward Ryan Hinchcliffe to hang up boots
Huddersfield loose forward Ryan Hinchcliffe will retire at the end of the season and return to Australia. Huddersfield coach Simon Woolford thanked Hinchcliffe for his efforts at the club.
He said: “I’ve known him a long time since we played together back at the Canberra Raiders in the early 2000s and he’s worked hard his whole career, with that he got a lot of success at Melbourne, success he thoroughly deserved.
“He’s one of those guys that lead by example on and off the field and he’s certainly going to be a loss for us next year.

Former Canberra Raiders winger Justin Carney: Why quitting is the best thing for me mentally
Justin Carney insists he’ll come to the end of a ‘hard journey’ when calling it quits from professional rugby and leaving Hull KR at the end of the year. The winger will say goodbye to England after six successful seasons in Super League and the Championship, with the year and a half spent at the Robins.
Confirming his decision to return back to his native homeland and be closer to his young children, Carney explained his reasoning behind yesterday’s official, albeit expected, announcement.

Re: Ex Raiders... where are they now?
Well, we DID hear he needed to be extended due to the huge demand from other clubs for his services.
Son, we live in a world that has forums, and those forums have to be guarded by Mods. Who's gonna do it? You? You, Nickman? I have a greater responsibility than you can possibly fathom. You weep for Lucy, and you curse GE. You have that luxury. You have the luxury of not knowing what I know -- that GE’s moderation, while tragic, probably saved lives; and my existence, while grotesque and incomprehensible to you, keeps threads on track and under the appropriately sized, highlighted green headings.
You want moderation because deep down in places you don't talk about at parties, you want me on that forum -- you need me on that forum. We use words like "stay on topic," "use the appropriate forum," "please delete." We use these words as the backbone of a life spent defending something. You use them as a punch line. I have neither the time nor the inclination to explain myself to a man who rises and sleeps under the blanket of the very moderation that I provide and then questions the manner in which I provide it. I would rather that you just said "thank you" and went on your way. Otherwise, I suggest you get a green handle and edit a post. Either way, I don't give a DAMN what you think about moderation.
Re: Ex Raiders... where are they now?
Glad he got another head coach gig. He is a club legend and I am sure still has potential to be a good coach.

Former Canberra Raiders coach David Furner excited to Leeds the way
David Furner is excited about returning to coach Leeds, the club where he played in a premiership, but his sole focus is on helping South Sydney win one themselves. The former Canberra Raiders coach is wary of a St George Illawarra side he says has enough weapons to be dangerous - even without star five-eighth Gareth Widdop (shoulder).
"I've always had the ambition to go back to being a head coach. I like the challenges. I enjoyed my time as Canberra head coach," Furner said.

Former Canberra Raiders hooker Adam Clydsdale named Newcastle Rugby League Player of the Year
Adam Clydsdale has received the Newcastle competition’s highest individual honour at McDonald Jones Stadium on Wednesday night, named 2018 player of the year. Maitland Pickers president Frank Lawler said Clydsdale hadn’t made any commitments for 2019.
“He [Clydsdale] is undecided at this stage,” Lawler said. “If he plays in Newcastle, he’ll play with us. He’s given us that. He loves it at Maitland. But his girlfriend Yasmin [Meakes] lives in Sydney and plays rugby sevens [for Australia] so he is tossing up whether to move or stay at home.

Former Canberra Raiders winger Justin Carney heads back to Nyngan
He might not be the most vocal of leaders, but Nyngan Tigers fans can expect Justin Carney to let his actions do the talking on the field. After playing with Castleford and Salford previously in England, Hull KR has been Carney’s last home in what has been a sometimes tumultuous Super League career.
“What Nyngan are getting is a dedicated player and man, who has been through plenty during his time in England off the field. On it, Carney was a machine in nearly every game played. Easily topping the metres-made charts at Hull KR, he was their go-to man to get them out of danger in their own 20 and he'll be sorely missed on the field.”
