Canberra Raiders nominate Sam Williams for Ken Stephen Medal
The Canberra Raiders have nominated Sam Williams for the NRL Community Award and the Ken Stephen Medal. He's been in to cook meals as part of Ronald McDonald House's Meals from the Heart program and he's hoping to take part in the Red Wig Run in October.
"Louie had an unfortunate accident on a trampoline just before Christmas. The Ronald McDonald House in Sydney as well has been really good to him," he said. "He's going through a fairly tough rehabilitation period at the moment. He's a great kid and they're a great family.

I'll vote for Sam as well but he'd probably lose with a late field goal...

Genuine Good Guy Sammy.
And to all the people who doubted me, hello to them as well. - Mark Webber, Raiders Ballboy and Unluckiest F1 Driver Ever
I'm attacking in the right way, instead of just...attacking in the general direction. - Max Aaron (also eerily apropos for the Green Machine)

Sam Williams has been nominated for the Ken Stephen Medal in 2018. The Raiders halfback who hails from Cooma has been to the RMHC in Canberra to help cook and prepare meals for the 'meals from the heart' program which helps families in need who are doing it tough. Park the fact Sam may be a nice bloke and bleeds green for a minute...
I think this is why the raiders as a club have been performing as they have.
We need a halfback that will win us priemerships not participation recognition. Looks like we got some forwards coming and out backs are already outstanding... just need a priemiership winning halfback now.

Canberra Raiders half Sam Williams 'humbled' by Ken Stephen Medal nomination
Sam Williams has been nominated for the prestigious NRL Community Award and the Ken Stephen Medal for his work as an ambassador to the children's charity Ronald McDonald House.
"We take losses really hard and it's often tough, but we get in our little rugby league bubble, but you get out there and see what real problems are, it puts thing realty into perspective," the halfback said. "It's one of those charities that's fairly close my heart because there's a lot of people from my region in Cooma that have been up here and stayed in the house and looked after by the staff at Ronald McDonald.

Re: Raiders nominate Sam Williams for Ken Stephen Medal
Good work Sam. I loved the comment about people being in an NRL bubble. I know we have had some deadbeats at our club but people like yourself and Tonguey make it easy to support the Raiders. I think SW's form since his return from injury has been at a high level.
