I know we have a million injuries but I would really like to see Junior dropped.

Has there ever been a more depressing time as a Raiders supporter?

Important game this once since the Titans beat the Warriors. We are still a slim hope. Don’t write off the Raiders just yet.

No more room for Ricky Stuart Canberra Raiders smokescreens
The time for smokescreens is over as Ricky Stuart looks to manage a Canberra Raiders outfit walking wounded into the final five weeks of the NRL season. Stuart's playing stocks have been stretched so thin he was forced to name Michael Oldfield to fill his 21-man squad ahead of a shellacking at the hands of the Melbourne Storm, even though he knew he is facing a six-week stint on the sidelines.
"They’re discipline was just poor, they were put under pressure and they just failed the test really, simple as that. You can’t do that against Melbourne, they’re just way too clinical," Fittler said.

Unlike what Rickey served out last game, this line up at least like it might be able to win a game of league. They had buckleys the way they were sent out last week and played like it. Sia was a centre a decade ago.zim wrote: ↑July 29, 2018, 3:10 pm 1. Nick Cotric

Re: 2018 Rd 21 V Panthers: Teams and Previews
My squad this wk:
1. Austin - FB is a 2nd 5/8 in atrack anyway. In our top 3 support runners at the club. Allows him to inject himself at will. Doesn't need to defend in the line.
2. Abbey - coz with our injuries, we probably have to play him somewhere*.
3. Cotric* - if he passed at all against the Storm, it was from dummyhalf, but I dont remember it. Safe as houses defensively at FB, but adds nothing in attack.
4. BJ
5. Rapana
6. Sezer
7. Sammy
8. Lui
9. Hodgo
10. Knight - had 1 clanger, but i really liked what he did vs Storm. Played good mins too.
11. Tapine
12. Whitehead
13. Papa
14. Havili
15. Bateman
16. Soliola
17. Guler
18. Paulo
19. Murchie*
20. Garvey
21. Boyd (Due back?)
* - if for some reason Ricky decides to go down the backrower at centre route, Abbey OUT, Cotric wing, and Id play Murchie at centre. Cant go 80 in the backrow, but might be able to at centre. We always have Sia and Whitey if required too.

Garvey didn't play last week for Mounties... so unlikely. Sadly, he's not been considered for the whole season, and that is to the cost of the club.

I think if you're going to move Cotric it's got to be because our defense is better with him there, and it very well could be. We don't have trouble scoring points.Matt wrote: ↑July 29, 2018, 7:24 pm My squad this wk:

Interesting Murchie idea. The kid's had some decent testing the last 2 weeks and had no issues. Certainly more mobile than Sia, which is not a knock on Sia. Poor guy did his best with those old man knees and hams.
I was impressed with Knight too. I think his biggest issue so far has been running hard. Certainly upped his game vs the Storm.

Having seen 3 games of Cotric at FB, he has shown that he isnt ready, if suited to it at all. Top draw modern FBs ball play, he doesn't/ cant. Id have Rapa above him now.zim wrote: ↑July 29, 2018, 8:53 pmI think if you're going to move Cotric it's got to be because our defense is better with him there, and it very well could be. I still think his future is centre. He has proved he can tackle and defend on the wing. I think we have missed a trick not playing him there already. I said last wk we need him in the line. So, yes, its for his defense.

I eagerly await the game day surprises.
What didn't work last week:
- switching the left edge and the right edge
- playing Soliola at centre
- hypnotising Junior Paulo and telling him that Munster is covered in spiders

Top draw modern FBs ball play, he doesn't/ cant. Id have Rapa above him now.zim wrote: ↑July 29, 2018, 8:53 pmI think if you're going to move Cotric it's got to be because our defense is better with him there, and it very well could be. We don't have trouble scoring points.Matt wrote: ↑July 29, 2018, 7:24 pm My squad this wk:
I still think his future is centre. He has proved he can tackle and defend on the wing. I think we have missed a trick not playing him there already. I said last wk we need him in the line. So, yes, its for his defense.
You get a real clear picture of how much fitter / skillful Wighton is with ball in hand the more games we see Cotric at fullback.
Still I'm happy to see him get a decent stint at it to end the year. He's not playing centre unless BJ or Croker leave the club and he's likely first choice backup if something happens to Wighton next year. At least you'll have a much better idea on what he can offer from the back.

If Wighton could position himself to receive kicks he'd be top shelf.zim wrote: ↑July 29, 2018, 9:10 pmYeah at the moment he doesn't have the lungs for it. In a sick sort of way I think we should throw Austin into the centres facing up to Kikai.
Shoving it in your face since 2017

^^^ Assuming BJ and Rapa stay continue their sojourn on the left edge, then those are 2 very scary thoughts.

Canberra Raiders Ricky Stuart reaches out to dumped touch judge Ricky McFarlane
In a wonderful display of sportsmanship, Ricky Stuart has reached out to the touch judge whose error ended his Canberra team’s season a week ago.
Friends have described how McFarlane was reduced to tears by his error, barely able to function. Stuart, upon hearing this, attempted to contact McFarlane to console him.

2018 Rd 21 V Panthers: Teams and Previews
This week against the Panthers will be similar to the storm game. Expect another 40 points to be scored against us.
