Re: Round 20 Raiders v Storm team list page1
This will go either 2 ways
1. we are all fired up after being robbed against the storm and want to prove a point
or more likley
2. the emotional let down after being robbed will see us flat and and over play our hand
If it is the first opinion we blow the storm off the field
Second option we get blown off the field
it will not be a close game
But Tapine will be back and hopefully no more injuries!

I heard we were just going to get one of the fathers from each team to run the line and one of the storm trainers has already volunteered to ref.
No point sending out paid "professionals" out to our games any more.

You here that boys (and girls)? Weekly segments are back on the menu, officially endorsed by the top brass. I'll start looking up which animals storm players most closely resemble. Perhaps a cat look alike thing. Judged by frank

Both Sammy and Hodgo had a bit of a limp post game, so I really hope they pull up ok today.

Re: 2018 Rd 20 V Storm: Teams and Previews
Hope we see this:
1. Cotric - Needs more pill. Was barely sighted for large portions of Friday's game. He's also way safer under the high ball and defensively stronger than Abbey.
2. Abbey - Reckon he'll benefit from another five games in first grade and don't think it matters if they're on the wing. He can give Cotric a breather for a spell, if need be.
3. Oldfield - Not my first choice for centre but the pickings are slim. His metres are good so if he has a better defensive night, it should be okay. Surely won't make the same number of errors again. Does mean Scott and Addo-Carr would be running at Oldie and Abbey though. Gulp.
Other than that, Tapine in to restore the backrow to full strength, which will mean we'll have to bump Murchie or Knight from the bench. The other to go if Boyd is fit. Shame as I'd like them both to have another game but, as much as I'm planning for 2019, Boyd is better and we need our best team on the field - particularly while we're still down three or four starters.

At least that grub would be a more honest ref than those two imbeciles (and the wonky eyed bunker) refs we had last game...
Any morons on here who keep glossing over the fact that the refs prematurely ended our season on Friday nite, and emphasise it’s our own fault for losing earlier games are potato heads too

Re: 2018 Rd 20 V Storm: Teams and Previews
Abbey at fullback isn't ideal but it's not as bad as Oldfield at centre. Cotric to centre. Croker's gone for the year, I don't want to see Cotric on the wing again.

Yep Cotric needs to get his hands on the ball more, caught a cold on the wing the other night.
Re: 2018 Rd 20 V Storm: Teams and Previews
I'd put Whitehead at center, Cotric to fullback and Oldfield back to the wing.
Re: 2018 Rd 20 V Storm: Teams and Previews
Definitely. Cotric to fullback. Oldfield on the wing. Whitehead to center.
Tapine should be back and on the edge.

Time to give Rapana a go at the back. Love the thought of Rapana following the ball around the ruck and running the outside inside play. Oldfield at centre was a disaster and I think Cotric is built for centre. He reminds me a bit of Greg Inglis in his younger days. Struggling to keep a spot for Paulo moving forward as he is off next year (same for Boyd when he returns) and although contracted for next year, just can’t find room for Bateman while we have Havilii in the side. Time to give the young pups some game time. Come on Guler!!

I know he'll be picked but he shouldn't be. He's **** lazy in defence and continues to run sideways on every 2nd hit up. The fact he is leaving next year should only make the decision more clear cut.-PJ- wrote: ↑July 22, 2018, 2:59 pmBrace yourself GEM. On another matter, I think the Raiders should check if Englishman Ryan Sutton is any sort of relation to the Ref Sutton trio. That may stop what Ricky refers to as being 'treated differently'. The question needs to be asked of Ryan Sutton - Has he ever been to Coonabarabran?
Re: 2018 Rd 20 V Storm: Teams and Previews
I think Paulo should be phased out once Boyd returns. As others have said, he is bludging and he hasnt earnt any sort of send off. Boyd has earnt that at least, he is a local junior with close to 10 years at the club.

Joe Tapine set for Canberra Raiders return
The Canberra Raiders are set to be boosted by the return of international back-rower Joe Tapine for a date with the reigning premiers on the same day Shannon Boyd could kickstart his farewell tour. The impending return of Tapine could push debutant Jack Murchie out of the squad to tackle the Storm but the young back-rower is hopeful he can hold a spot in coach Ricky Stuart's side.
"I guess we’ll see, there’s some really world class players coming back," Murchie said. "I guess they’ll definitely be coming back into the team but hopefully I can hang around there and be a chance but we’ll see what happens."
