Joe Tapine found guilty, banned two weeks by judiciary
Canberra Raiders forward Joe Tapine facing two-week ban
Canberra forward Joseph Tapine is facing a two-week ban after being charged by the NRL match review committee over an incident in the Raiders' dramatic win over Canterbury on Saturday night.
Tapine has been handed a grade-one dangerous-contact charge for an incident on Bulldogs hooker Michael Lichaa in the 26th minute. With 85 carryover points to be added, he is facing two weeks if he submits an early guilty plea or if he unsuccessfully challenges the charge at the judiciary.

Re: Joe Tapine facing two-week ban
Joe really needs to clean up his act on field, because at this rate he's going to spend an awful lot of time on the sidelines.

Re: Joe Tapine facing two-week ban
Is there any footage of this? I didn’t think there was much in it, from memory Lichaa seemed to duck his head and caused himself To be put in to a dangerous position and another raiders player up top in the tackle probably contributed too, would like to see it again though as I was a few beers deep

Canberra Raiders forward Joe Tapine set to miss another two NRL games
Canberra Raiders second-rower Joe Tapine faces another two-game ban, just three weeks after his last one.
"It's tough, I didn't go in there with intentions to hurt anyone it's just how it panned out ... I'm glad he [Lichaa] wasn't badly hurt," he said. "You've got to kind of control it [aggression]. It's part of my game I've got to improve is controlling aggression and knowing when to use it and how to use it. It's a part of me, how I was brought up, so I'm not going to lose it anytime soon, I've just got to control it."

I’d like to see Tapine with his head screwed on too...
Re: Joe Tapine facing two-week ban
expected him to get suspended, it's just the way it is now in the wake if the Alex McKinnon thing... but i really dont think he did a lot wrong there. Liccha was most responsible for him being in a dangerous position
It does my head in to think players saw what happened to McKinnon and they still think a single quick play the ball is worth those risks

Re: Joe Tapine facing two-week ban
Joe has some silly crap in his game.
But I too would love to see some front on vision.
There's not much in these tackles but player safety is top of the list and that's understandable.

How soon IS now?
Re: Joe Tapine facing two-week ban
He turns 25 next year and its probably time that he gets a little bit of the craziness out of his game. Love the aggression but he takes it too far a lot of the time

Re: Joe Tapine facing two-week ban
He should fight it.
1. He didn't really lift at all.
2. The Bulldogs player contributed to the issue by ducking his head.
3. 2 weeks whether he fights or takes the plea. Nothing to lose.

Re: Joe Tapine facing two-week ban
Fighting it would be a waste of time, money and resources for all concerned. You're right, but since McKinnon, and rightly so btw, none of that **** matterswoppadingo wrote: ↑July 8, 2018, 9:32 pm He should fight it.

He doesnt have a pray of getting off. Tapine and any other player in incidents like copping a few weeks on the sidelines like this is acceptable collateral damage to try to avoid some poor **** being confided to a wheel chair

Don't change a ******* thing Joe. If he turns into our Sam Burgees, so be it. If he delivers the shiz every time he plays, and terrorizes the opposition..... I'm comfortable with him having the odd fortnight off

He doesn’t lift the leg “above” horizontal in comparison to his hips so fight it.
The way he ducked he could nearly spear himself while having his feet still on the ground

My opinion, there was nothing much in it. However, he will do his 2wks.
Its also my opinion, that he does this dumb stuff too often. Controlled aggression is a serious thing he needs to work out.

Re: Joe Tapine facing two-week ban
Pig this is the nrl judiciary we are talking about here, if there’s no risk of copping any extra weeks on the sideline we should definitely fight it. Our season is pretty much over but technically we are still a chance and play the cowboys and sharks the next two weeks, I think we need Tapine to have any chance especially against the Sharks.Pigman wrote: ↑July 8, 2018, 9:55 pmFighting it would be a waste of time, money and resources for all concerned. Re: Joe Tapine facing two-week ban
Do carry over points still erode at 5 per game without charge ? If so I think there is an argument about fighting it. The difference in outcome is realistically two weeks with 5 carry over points for the guilty plea and two weeks plus 45 carry over points for the not guilty plea but being found guilty. He will just need to be a good boy for 9 weeks if the same system is in place
If points dont erode like that any more than take the guilty plea

Re: Joe Tapine facing two-week ban
Live, i thought it was Soliola that drove his head into the ground. Soliola had hold of his shoulders and was pushing him down. Tapine just pulled one of his legs up and back to take him off balance.
I thought they put the wrong person on report at the time.

Soliola can't do that if his legs aren't lifted, and he's already trying to put him on the ground before the lift happens. The tackle is going business as usual until Tapine starts trying to lift instead of just wrapping him up.

Re: Joe Tapine facing two-week ban
He will. Im fairly confident of that.
I dont think he should, i think the ball carrier is almost solely responsible for the position he found himself in, so i'd applaud the judiciary if they found him not guilty, but i just think in an NRL universe post Alex McKinnon, i suspect it wouldnt matter what sort of defence we put up, he'll be sitting out.
If we got a downgrade i'd see that as a HUGE upset.

Canberra Raiders to fight Tapine tackle charge at NRL tribunal
The Canberra Raiders will role the NRL tribunal dice as they look to clear Joe Tapine to play against the North Queensland Cowboys at Canberra Stadium on Saturday.
"I haven't had a good look at it, but personally I didn't think there was a lot in it. But I'll have to have a good look at it," Jarrod Croker said of Tapine's tackle."We need Taps there, he's been massive for us. I didn't expect to be missing him for two weeks so I think we'll fight that and hopefully we can get him off and get him right to go again this week."

Two-game ban forces Canberra Raiders Joe Tapine to rethink his approach
Raiders enforcer Joe Tapine concedes he may have to temper his aggressive approach to the game after failing to overturn a two-game suspension at the judiciary, just three weeks after serving his last ban.
Tapine was found guilty of a dangerous lifting tackle on Canterbury's Michael Lichaa in last week's come-from-behind thriller at Belmore, which kept Canberra three wins behind the eighth-placed Warriors.
