Canberra Raiders V North Queensland Cowboys
Saturday 14 July 7:35pm
Canberra Stadium
Tickets: Click here
TV coverage: Fox League Channel 502
Radio: ABC, 2CC, Mix 106.3

It was an extraordinary finish to the clash with the Bulldogs, the Raiders trailing by 14 with six minutes remaining... and winning by four. The Raiders kept their finals hopes alive, but they still must win a highly unlikely six or seven of their remaining eight matches to challenge for the top eight. So it is another must win at home in Round 18 at Canberra Stadium against a North Queensland Cowboys team that is already out of finals contention. Who should line up for the Raiders in that match? Tell us your team here and see how you go in comparison to the official squad when announced. We will include the official line ups in the first post of this thread as soon as they're available.

Just stick Austin out on the wing in defence, most other clubs do it with some of their halves.

Then switch the winger back for the opposition kick.

Williams and Sezer are too boring, I'd be looking at trying something with Blake defensively as we are too predictable in attack without him.

That's fine, but that doesn't bode well for next year if we aren't in the market for a new 5/8. we need to test Williams more. I'd leave Austin on the bench as a super sub.

Well, with Papa due back, Tapine maybe facing another suspension, Rapana maybe back, Abbey maybe rested, Austin on fire for 15mins in attack, Austins turnstile defence, the pros and cons of having Williams starting..

I have no idea how the side will run out this week.

I'd like to see a head on of the tapine tackle, the back shot looked a bit McKinnon like with lichaa ducking in but more likely one of the other tackles pulled him down.

Ricky said he'll know by Wed/Thurs if Rapana is right to go.

No Boyd, Tapine? and Abbey will have to be cleared..he was unconscious.

If Abbey is out, Austin to fullback could be a move.

Unless Raps is back. Then Cotric might slot back there. Austin to stay 14.

Paps in for Tarps the other change.

I'll have one of these Dusty. We need to see how Knight will go as a starting Prop because he could be there in 2019. Most of us have wanted to see how Murchie goes in FG so this is a good opportunity. I think Cotric to fullback is an absolute no brainer.

Given the justified concern about brain injury, I think Brad Abbey should be stood down for this week at least. I'm sure he will want to play but Sticky should just say, you've got the weekend off mate, because we're concerned for your long term health. He will be monitored and the medicos will let Sticky know when they consider he is ok to play.

I like that you have gone for loads of youth here, naming Knight to start, Murchie and having Guler on the bench. However... No way I can see Ricky picking both. Id say we see 1 of Murchie or Guler, not both. I like starting Knight, though I though he has looked really good off the bench the last 2 wks, and Lui's first stints have been good.

I can totally see Austin at FB too... the Q is, will Ricky?!? Esp with JTs kicking game.

I like the look of this too. Good versatility on the bench (which means Rick will butcher it). Only 1 of the rookie forwards. Rapa back.

Murchie hasn't impressed me much, he looks ok but I don't see him in first grade next year given we are stacked in the second row, and I would say the probable Bateman signing is a pretty clear indicator the club agrees.

Guler on the other hand has to be a huge part of our plans for next year. The only reason not to pick him this week is because he is backing up from Under 20s so wouldn't be able to train with the team.

yes, embarrassing for the ref, first impact was ball then slipped up the the collar with no force, he sin binned Murchie as the hit was on the guy who just caused a scuffle.

I'd be picking Guler if it wasn't for his Origin selection. Don't think you can ask a kid to backup for his debut. Unless you do the tried and true leave 1 player on the bench all game.

And Bateman and Rappa could play. We really need Rappa with Abbey ruled out.
If Bateman is healthy there'll be no juniors and either Pappa or Soliola will play 2nd row.
