Quick reminder

Post by Timbo »

that Michael Maguire is currently unemployed. As are several other highly skilled coaches.

It’s time. We can’t keep going on like this.

Can we not recycle another old coach and “Old Boy” for once though?

And if anyone mentions Hasler or Jason Taylor on this thread, you know zero about rugby league (for reference - about as much as R.Stuart)

I'm on board.

We'll probably end up with Simon Woolford as the next coach though.

The rule is pretty much that average players make better coaches. We have 20 years worth of average players and we keep bringing in superstars from 20+ years ago as coaches.

Matt Gafa for 2019.

Macguire is coaching the Kiwi’s. Holbrook is doing good but they s is his first year and has the best squad to work with in the ESL

Anthony seibold started south's training with drills using soapy balls.

We should focus on catching instead having the hardest preseason ever

I would consider Jason Demetriou from the Broncos.

Has won Q Cup and NSW cup as a coach. Was an assistant at the Cowboys when they won it.

Has never set foot in Queenbeyan!

Checklist for new coach and CEO.
1. Have you ever played for the Raiders
2. Is your last name Furner
If you answer no to either of these answers unfortunately you are not the right material for the Canberra Raiders and will not be considered thanks for playing

You forgot the most important criterion - Did you grow up on the same street as, or have your nappy changed by, somebody from Queanbeyan?

Purely a hypothetical I know, and I don't know if you'd get them to Canberra, but what about the Walker brothers currently at the Ipswich Jets?

I'd love to see the Walker get a chance in the NRL... but I don't think it will be this club they aren't one of the boys

How has Ipswich gone the last few years? They seem to be having a rubbish season looking at the ladder.

Well you have to take into account that after leading 16-0 at half time and 22-12 deep into the second half we did what we do best and **** the bed.

Therefore Demetriou’s current team will make the finals and we will once again miss out. Fortunately though the Broncos are toilet this year and will be out of the finals in week 1. So to cut a long answer short - early September!

I know the circumstances are very different, but Toovey was dreadful at Bradford. I wouldn't touch him with a bargepole.

Rumours coming out that Griffin is on the nose at Penrith. With Gould where there is smoke there is most certainly fire I reckon we should start having chats to his manager. He is a good coach and he is not afraid to make the changes

In his 4 seasons:
17-10, 4th and a prelim
17-1-10, 4th and lost the GF
16-10, 2nd and out in straight sets
11-13, 9th

He had very good squads but he also had a dysfunctional board.

The main reason I would like him signed is he is an angry man and will give both barrels to those that need to hear it at the club. We need someone to come in and give everyone a reality check in terms of where we are at, not come in and talk up the history and respect the club has, because it doesn't have the latter at all anymore.

Tooves also had a reputation for being a good defensive coach. I'm not sure how well-earned that rep is, but that is what we're looking for.

Fine, unemployed as a club coach. How many internationals are there a year now anyway?
