Garvey was actually signed first
Re: Raiders player signing speculation 2018
a few years back sticky lamented not being able to replicate what Bennett did with nikorima, can't remember who he wanted to play cameos off the bench, I reckon that's the Hingano plan but it's cost us big.

We keep Baptiste and Garvey is possibly overlooked as not a desperate signing due to a not as desperate hooker situation and then Havili comes along.
Re: Raiders player signing speculation 2018
There are still rumours about Taupau wanting out of Manly. If it's true and we aren't at least making a huge offer then management are kidding, or more likely broke.
Re: Raiders player signing speculation 2018
Gawd manly lose him they're in for a few tough years. Knowing our organisation we're probably targeting somebody like Woods instead.

Sam Moa would be handy, off contract at Catalans Dragons this year

Hard to say. They're both different styles of player.

The spiral of silence refers to the idea that when people fail to speak, the price of speaking rises. As the price to speak rises, still fewer speak out, which further causes the price to rise, so that fewer people yet will speak out, until a whole culture or nation is silenced. This is what happened in Germany.
If you do not speak, you are not being neutral, but are contributing to the success of the thing you refuse to name and condemn.

Id definitely throw the cheque book at Kapow to get a signature.
Id also be willing to do the same for DCE. He might be an ****, but he is also a top 6 halfback. Something we haven't had for 2 decades - give or take a flash in the pan from Campo.

Any interest in Elgey? Showed early promise but hasn’t kicked on. Apparently unwanted at the Titans.

Him and Sezer combined well when they were at the Titans but he wouldn't be my first or second choice. Defence lets him down a lot.

The kid was 20 years of age, won a premiership and represented his country - yet was only getting 50k a year for the next 4 years as a playmaker.HarliBlu wrote: ↑June 14, 2018, 12:41 pm On NRL 360 Watmough speaks out about DCE.. I don’t blame him one bit playing hardball and demanding an upgrade (he doesn’t know long he has at the time in the game) - yes he could of gone about it a bit different though (young and influenced)
And what with Whatmough anyway ? - having to get “something of my chest” by deliberating trying to make life tough for DCE and distroying his name.
Speaks more of Whatmoughs poor character than it does of DCE.
I’d take him in a heartbeat.
Big game experience, premiership winning halfback, Clive Churchill medallist, Rep player, short kicking game and know’s how to set up a field goal.
Throw him into our team this season we are entrenched in the 8.

Have to agree with scotch, Manly were awful with Hodginson in "10". DCE comes in "11" and they are a totally different side.scotchberry wrote: ↑June 14, 2018, 4:02 pmThe kid was 20 years of age, won a premiership and represented his country - yet was only getting 50k a year for the next 4 years as a playmaker.HarliBlu wrote: ↑June 14, 2018, 12:41 pm On NRL 360 Watmough speaks out about DCE.. After that year DCE's manager wouldn't have been doing his job if he didn't push for a pay rise.

Wanting more money is not the issue so much as not turning up to training like a child. It's very easy to say "I understand where you are coming from but I disagree." and continue to do your job like a professional instead of "Nah get **** ****, going home."
As arrogant and selfish as he (still) is; if he fell in our laps we'd be silly to pass him up. He'd be the best halfback we've had in a long time.

Why would we be interested in him then?Raymond Der wrote: ↑June 14, 2018, 2:35 pm Any interest in Elgey? Showed early promise but hasn’t kicked on. Apparently unwanted at the Titans.
He's a poor man's Aiden Sezer, in the "showing promise but hasn't kicked on" aspect.

DCE, Norman, Reynolds... I would take any and wouldn’t mind if we payed big money.
I’m looking for any sign of hope at the moment. Still waiting on the promised Papa signing

He did well to grab that at the peak of his powers. It's overs for him but we are in a tough position for next year. Maybe Parra would chip in a couple hundred to get him off the books? Same article mentions they are open to it.

...advised by his manager (an Orr) - and it worked. How much more were Watmough or Glen Stewart going to contribute, apart from siphoning off their massive backended salaries?zim wrote: ↑June 14, 2018, 5:00 pm Wanting more money is not the issue so much as not turning up to training like a child. I'm prepared to take Mr Gore's word for it that DCE is actually quite a good bloke. It's not his fault that he's not as dumb as some of his former teammates. And he's a better half than we've had in years.
I also question where the hell you get the idea that he's arrogant - what, you've watched him speak articulately in a few press conferences?

RELEASE ROGER!
Gina Riley: Oh, come on, John. That’s a bit old hat, the corrupt IOC delegate.
John Clarke: Old hat? Gina, in the scientific world when they see that something is happening again and again and again, repeatedly, they don’t call it old hat. They call it a pattern.

Re: Raiders player signing speculation 2018
I think the point that Watmough is too much of a boofhead to make is that teams that have a real dynasty take smaller deals at the club to remain a dynasty. It's why players like Dugan and DCE will never truly experience long term success. Sure, some players have the mentality to earn the total maximum during their career, can't fault them for that, but I'm sure they'd change their mind at the end of their careers to experience success. DCE being slightly different as he has a premiership but I doubt he will achieve another.Lui_Bon wrote: ↑June 15, 2018, 12:04 am...advised by his manager (an Orr) - and it worked.
