Re: Raiders Sign Ryan Sutton
He looks ok. I'd see him as depth or bottom of the prop rotation in a good side. I don't see a starting NRL prop but he might suprise.

Liking this. Pommy props have a good record transitioning to the NRL.

Re: Raiders Sign Ryan Sutton
For the age of him he’s got plenty of experience !!
Most front rowers make their debut at his age let alone already having 100 first grade matches under their belts.

100 matches in 4 years is pretty handy durability
Hopefully he transitions well

Re: Raiders Sign Ryan Sutton
Haven’t seen much of him but he’s only 22 and already has over 100 Games for Wigan, he looks aggressive and seems to have a really good work rate both with and without the ball according to stats. A good signing imo, wouldn’t cost us that much and could turn out very good

Re: Raiders Sign Ryan Sutton
I bet Hodgo and Whitey have told him to bring his bike.
100 games at the age of 22 is impressive..and in the front row as well.
I wish him all the best.

Canberra Raiders sign Ryan Sutton
22 years old, still got a long way to go before he matures for a front rower. I hope we have 3 easy opponents in the first 3 games next year. He will be targeted so hopefully he can ease into the NRL

But it's the start of our new player signings momentum! I thought for sure you were going to be upbeat about that.LastRaider wrote: ↑May 30, 2018, 5:49 pm 22 years old, still got a long way to go before he matures for a front rower. I'm looking forward to seeing how he goes. 100 games in the front row at 22 is impressive. The shorter contract means he'll have to hit the ground running too. Won't be able to ease into it in his first of 3 years.

100 game prop at 22 with a healthy dose of mongrel looks a good prospect at a good price, but at current doesn’t start for Wigan so i wouldn’t be looking to him for anything close to what Boyd/Paulo do for us. There has to be more coming

If he can move laterally, not give away stupid ruck penalties and averages at least 40 minutes he is already an upgrade for our team - good stuff

Re: Canberra Raiders sign Ryan Sutton
He is a bit faster version of Knight. Hits the line hard but drops like a sack of spuds. Good involvement and aggression though.

Re: Canberra Raiders sign Ryan Sutton
He's not in the top group of props in SL and probably not in the second group, either.
Although the same would have been said about Hodgson and hookers when he left and that turned out OK.
Sutton certainly has all the tools and has age on his side. Wigan like their props big - so he'll undoubtedly drops a few kgs during his toughest preseason ever (see, I'm getting the hang of this cynicism) and that should improve his game no end.
He's big, tough and will be incredibly cheap. Even if he doesn't make it, you won't have wasted a lot and if he does, you've replaced Shannon Boyd and saved $400k a year.

We'll have a team full of soap dodgers the way we're going. Not such a bad thing judging from the other two. Hope it works out.

Don't think it's published. Based on the game I watched he played between 40 and 50. He plays long minutes after the first 20.

Re: Canberra Raiders sign Ryan Sutton
Yea closer to 100m per game than 90 but close enough, low error/penalty rate too and also fairly good tackle efficiency. He seems to be at worst a solid footballer you can work with. Reading the Wigan forums it sounds as if he’s having his best season so should be only getting better and on an upward trajectoryedwahu wrote: ↑May 30, 2018, 7:22 pmTo summarisekiwi raider wrote: ↑May 30, 2018, 7:19 pmhttp://www.rugby-league.com/superleague ... info/20668El_Capitano wrote: ↑May 30, 2018, 7:07 pm Do we have any stats? As long as he empties the tank weekly I’ll be happy.
Re: Canberra Raiders sign Ryan Sutton
Pretty poor metres per carry...
Sounds like he is in the mould of a Graham not G.Burgress. High Minutes/work rate over metres per run.

No idea if he can play at an NRL level, but a 22 year old middle who's seasoned already as a professional, week in, week out footy player, and has some serious aggression is the type of bet i like taking.
Happy with this. Hopefully he's as good as Smelly and Hodgo. Stuart and Mulholland have a pretty good ESL track record too. Good job by them
