Canberra Raiders training and playing facilities

Post by LastRaider »

I read this article today about AIS Canberra up coming changes and the future of Bruce stadium.

https://www.smh.com.au/sport/ais-insist ... 4zdyi.html

While there is a lot of talk about recruitment at the moment, it makes me think what are the Raiders training facilities like compared to other clubs? Do the Raiders have a training partnership with AIS in anyway to access their resources? I know GIO stadium is in a desperate need of an upgrade and that’s out of our hands but are our facilities appealing to new recruits?

What are your thoughts GH brain trust?

I'm pretty sure in the past we were using their facilities for recovery after matches..

There was definitely some arrangement with (CISAC) Club lime but don't know if that is still a thing.

In terms of facilities I remember seeing Manly's during Hasler's days and it looked like something you'd find in somebody's shed..

Cisac is definitely still a thing

I was in there at 6am one morning during preseason and the whole squad was getting flogged as the majority of them were in fat camp at that stage.

They also had another flogging after we got pantsed by manly

We shouldn’t pretend they are massively substandard. They can certainly be better. There’s no excuse for not winning a Premiership out of the current digs however. They’re perfectly acceptable facilities for the players.

We can’t expect the Raiders to benefit from the AIS any longer. The federal government seems to be disbanding it. They’ve been downgrading it for many years.

Interesting GE, there is discussion around a new complex where Raiders will move their HQ to Bruce stadium sporting complex. Do you know anything about this?

Only what’s been reported in the last ABC Grandstand report and the CT this week. Separate threads.
