I actually quite liked that rendition of the anthem, for that occasion. It's not what you want before the GF or Origin, but when singing it to the rest of the world it kind of says, this is us, these are our people. I agree though, nothing will ever compare to the Julie Anthony/Human Nature version at the Sydney Games. You could never recapture the emotion of that event and how proud we all were that day.

Overall, on reflection, I think that they did a pretty good job last night. There was always going to be the cultural cringe stuff - always is with these events. I thought that it was reasonably well balanced though.

I went to the Triathlon today, and it was great. The best part was actuality seeing some of the battlers that would never get a run at the Olympics or world champs compete. Chris Walker from Gibraltar was my highlight. Old mate was just ecstatic to be there.

Looks like Seven Two is going to be far better to watch than the main channel.

I love seeing competitors from minnow nations having a go.

What a proud moment for these peoples families.

Makes them heroes when they return home as well.

Definitely one of the good things about the Comm Games. Most of them are no chance for a crack at the Olympics or world champs.

Thankfully the swimming is over. While I enjoy the sport it tends to dominate the coverage. Throw in all the para events too and we rarely got to see anything else live.

Hopefully a bit more diversity in live coverage now.

I said I like it but not the blanket coverage. We’re only getting replayed highlights of everything else.

I would truly like to see an 'Average Games'.

People with no history of sporting success picked at random to compete.

12 month moratorium on training in the lead up to the games. Strictly enforced by ASBO-Bracelit fit bits.

Even made his Insta story - have a geez "luvomayonga".

A story as old as the Commonwealth games themselves.

Bag a bagillion medals. Spend 2 years shilling for weetbix, nutrigrain and uncle tobys. S*** the bed at the following Olympics.
