Re: The Cricket Thread
So many starts for the Aussies but nobody got to 3 figures.
351 might not be a bad score though. Pitch not the easiest to score on

Re: The Cricket Thread
If they bowl well 350 seems a pretty decent total.

Re: The Cricket Thread
AUS need 1wicket to win the first test v SA.
Day 5 starts 7pm Sydney time tonight.
They've thoroughly outplayed the Proteas all match and will rap this up pretty quick.
SA 9/293 still needing another 124 for an unlikely win.
Just waiting for someone to get de Kock out..

It’s just trash talk. Could grow up and ignore it.
Re: The Cricket Thread
Was carrying on like a complete goose when AB de Villiers got run out, Great to see Lyon charged also for dropping the ball on him.
Do these guys realise they play **** cricket, honestly.

He's got a long track record. Happy to dish it out but goes off the deep end when somebody fires back. Hope the knob gets suspended.

2nd test to start very soon.
AUS team unchanged...SA has one change but who cares.

Re: The Cricket Thread
Behind the 8-ball at the moment the Aussies. PE is typically not the easiest batting wicket but no one so far has gone on and 4 down with Smith in the pavilion. Will need Marsh(s) and the lower order to get us a decent total.

Re: The Cricket Thread
Looks like Warner has been baited by the South Africans, with even team officials wearing SBW masks at the last test.
The Australian cricket team has a long history of sledging and it looks like the South Africans have made it personal. My opinion is that it should be stamped out of the game as eventually someone is always going to over step the mark.
As for the SBW masks is fairly disgusting and cricket Australia should show some leadership and support Warner on this occasion.

Aussies gone. Haven't batted well enough in this test, and not surprised, SA were always going to strike back.

Re: The Cricket Thread
Pretty good start to Ngidi's test career. In his first 3 tests he has 14 wickets at 16 a piece against the top 2 batting sides in the world.
Rabada might be suspended for the rest of the series. Morkel to come back in or Steyn may be fit. Either way they will still have a strong attack.

Rabada is out for 2 tests.
Australia's weakness still remains the batting. Far too inconsistent and unreliable. Will really need to apply themselves in the next 2 tests.

Re: The Cricket Thread
100% NR. I think Ngidi looks pretty good for a rookie. In context, anyone else see the name and want to say Ntini?
Azza, you are also right. I don't think its consistency though, its more conversions. A third of those scores are between 20-49, which just isn't good enough. Its at least promising that most of the batsmen now have a score. Only SMarsh and Paine haven't passed 50. I've listed the 4 scores by each of our top 7 to date. Its worth noting that MMarsh is actually our 2nd best bat.
Bancroft 5, 53, 38, 24
Warner 51, 28, 63, 13
Uzi 14, 6, 4, 75
Smith 56, 38, 25, 11
SMarsh 40, 33, 24, 1
MMarsh 96, 6, 4, 45
Paine 25, 14, 36, 28

Re: The Cricket Thread
Yep. South Africa already have 2 century makers there, we have none. Marsh deserved a tonne mind you. Also it cost us that our tail didn't contribute as much this test match as it did in the first test match.
The Amla/Elgar partnership probably proved the difference in that match, even with AB's brilliance those two hung in there when the ball was reversing big time and scored close to a 100 odd runs in tough conditions.

Aussie batters will need to have their wits about them doubly so - Rabada is in for the next test.
