Canberra Raiders prop Shannon Boyd says a lesson’s been learnt from Sunday’s round one NRL loss to the Gold Coast Titans.

“We should have put the foot on the throat a bit earlier. It should never have been that close,” Boyd said. “We have to move on from that game. I know we have to be a bit better and win those tighter games.”

This was from a SMH article on the 4th

The Viking Clap will happen before every home game, and Hush legend and Green Machine song writer Les Gock is slated to blow the Viking horn - which will now be placed on the field - in round two.

NRL: Canberra Raiders have moved on from Gold Coast Titans loss: Ricky Stuart

Canberra coach Ricky Stuart says emotions have been kept in check at the Raiders following their first-round NRL defeat. Stuart also confirmed Joe Tapine would miss up to four weeks after the forward dislocated his thumb against the Titans.

"After playing so well and then losing on the back end of a game, it can knock you around so it's important to deal with it," Stuart said on Friday.

Canberra Raiders prop Charlie Gubb unfazed by rare NRL double

Canberra NRL forward Charlie Gubb is not one to hype up a situation. Gubb has been selected to debut for his new club off the bench against Newcastle on Sunday night at GIO Stadium.

"I just want to do my job and hopefully secure my spot. That's what I came here for so it's just time to do my job," Gubb said.

The spiral of silence refers to the idea that when people fail to speak, the price of speaking rises. As the price to speak rises, still fewer speak out, which further causes the price to rise, so that fewer people yet will speak out, until a whole culture or nation is silenced. This is what happened in Germany.

If you do not speak, you are not being neutral, but are contributing to the success of the thing you refuse to name and condemn.

Ricky is delusional, when the game got tough, we went missing in action.
A la 2017. Will be interesting to see how they perform this week, I don't think it will be a close game at all, I tipped raiders by 22 👊

"The more matches he gets the more game time he'll get," Stuart said.

"He'll become more used to the players and more accustomed to that role for us."

I agree entirely with you Sticky and it's why there should have been another trial match for Havili to gain those extra minutes. It is a crucial position. Not to mention our defensive woes. Run down and beaten from 18-0 and then 24-6. Deja vu 2017.

Ricky Stuart confident Canberra Raiders won't suffer Gold Coast hangover against Newcastle Knights

Canberra Raiders coach Ricky Stuart is confident the Green Machine won't suffer from a Gold Coast hangover when they run out against the Newcastle Knights.

"After playing so well and then losing on the back end of that game it can knock you around, but it's important to deal with it and we've spoken about it this week. "We spoke about it straight after the game. I've got no dramas going into this game that that will have any effect now."

Canberra Raiders coach Ricky Stuart backs Aidan Sezer to return to halves soon

Aidan Sezer is doing a job as back-up hooker, but Canberra Raiders coach Ricky Stuart says it won't be long before he returns to start in the halves.

"Aidan's in the wings now doing a job for the team, but he won't be too far away from coming into the starting team as one of the halves," Stuart said. "So it's up to Sam and Blake to keep their position and it's great to have that competitiveness in a very important position.

Canberra five-eighth Blake Austin says the Raiders' horror record in tight NRL contests can't be put down to their performance at the end of games. Austin says their video review focused on incidents earlier in the game.

"There were plenty of good things in that game but, unfortunately, we let a couple of errors creep in and we lost control of the possession stat again. The last five or six minutes wasn't exactly where we lost the match on the weekend. So, when we go over everything with a fine comb, we've got to make sure we get every moment in the game."

At least they understand what went on last week.

We lost that Titans game from the 20-60 minute mark. They gifted us a mountain of ball early on, we capitalised on it and then we completely lost the plot. Discipline went out the window and we got our arses handed to us.

The Knights are a much better team than the Titans. This game could get messy.

Question Green-eyed.
When the team is announced can the first post be updated/edited so the team list is there?

Was it done like that last year?
