Re: Steve's Lazy Snooker
Mal should be an immortal. He was the most dominant player in his era, not just for his talent but because he got the best out of others, played the game fair, was highly respected because of that, and now he has turned qld into a dominant force because of these traits. He'll do the same for Australia as well.

The spiral of silence refers to the idea that when people fail to speak, the price of speaking rises. As the price to speak rises, still fewer speak out, which further causes the price to rise, so that fewer people yet will speak out, until a whole culture or nation is silenced. This is what happened in Germany.
If you do not speak, you are not being neutral, but are contributing to the success of the thing you refuse to name and condemn.

Steve, I think the NRL needs a proper reserve grade competition

Would you rather watch an AFL GF (3 hours?), or Avatar on a loop for 24 hours?greeneyed wrote:That isn't shown or discussed in this bar!Roger Kenworthy wrote:You will be a groom if I get my way.The Nickman wrote:Can I come too, Ed?

Easy. Avatar on loop for 24 hours.
Re: Steve's Lazy Snooker
I think I'm getting old. I'm just watching An Officer and a Gentleman on 7flix.
Richard Gere is now 68 and Debra Winger is 62!
They should always be imagined as they were at 30 odd years old.
I'm depressed.

Steve can you make me a Ricky Stuart, and a Don Furner chaser?
Re: Steve's Lazy Snooker
Why not?
Re: Steve's Lazy Snooker
Good timing... my wife left last night a week in Prague for "work matters"
i assume she's getting rolling drunk and seeing the sights, taking a well earned break from me and the kids... but im single parenting. And now it occurs to me that i might have a serious drinking problem.
The problem is im halfway through re-watching The Force Awakens and im out of booze. Poor planning on my behalf really.
GE, i'd like some sort of desert wine, a sweet port of some kind if you dont mind.

Re: Steve's Lazy Snooker
I accidentally had a nap from 4 to 6 pm so could really do with a nightcap to help get me to sleep tonight.
Re: Steve's Lazy Snooker
Czech guys were recently voted 'best looking in the world'.
Just saying.
Son, we live in a world that has forums, and those forums have to be guarded by Mods. Who's gonna do it? You? You, Nickman? I have a greater responsibility than you can possibly fathom. You weep for Lucy, and you curse GE. You have that luxury. You have the luxury of not knowing what I know -- that GE’s moderation, while tragic, probably saved lives; and my existence, while grotesque and incomprehensible to you, keeps threads on track and under the appropriately sized, highlighted green headings.
You want moderation because deep down in places you don't talk about at parties, you want me on that forum -- you need me on that forum. We use words like "stay on topic," "use the appropriate forum," "please delete." We use these words as the backbone of a life spent defending something. You use them as a punch line. I have neither the time nor the inclination to explain myself to a man who rises and sleeps under the blanket of the very moderation that I provide and then questions the manner in which I provide it. I would rather that you just said "thank you" and went on your way. Otherwise, I suggest you get a green handle and edit a post. Either way, I don't give a DAMN what you think about moderation.
Re: Steve's Lazy Snooker
If she’s flying to the Czech Republic to find a better looking man than me, I’ll be **** furious.
There is half a dozen of those at any given time at Garran shops!
Re: Steve's Lazy Snooker
It DOES seem like a long way to go, yes.

Steve, can I have a glass of Chianti? Apparently New York does sleep and I couldn't get another glass
Gina Riley: Oh, come on, John. That’s a bit old hat, the corrupt IOC delegate.
John Clarke: Old hat? Gina, in the scientific world when they see that something is happening again and again and again, repeatedly, they don’t call it old hat. They call it a pattern.

Medovina for me barkeep.
Does anyone have any tips to stop dogs barking in the mornings? This week, Mack has had a habit of barking and waking us up at 5:30 in the morning. I’m missing my sleep

Steve, I'm lost and needing some encouragement. No alcohol. Ok, just a small bourbon. What I really need is a mate and some sound advice.

Re: Steve's Lazy Snooker
Medovina it like a Honey Mead - I had it in Prague, and hearing Mrs Nick is over there took me back. Spent a night drinking and loving life in this awesome little bar called Cash Only. Good times.
I’ve tried telling like that, but it encourages them. I think they think I’m barking with them.

Seabreeze please barkeep.
I've had a pretty rough time at work lately. Really, it's been a disappointing year work wise. Been pondering what on earth I'm doing and for what purpose. I found this quote this week, which has really helped me readjust my thinking. It's been sitting with me ever since I read it

George Bernard Shaw wrote:This is the true joy in life, the being used for a purpose recognized by yourself as a mighty one; the being a force of nature instead of a feverish, selfish little clod of ailments and grievances complaining that the world will not devote itself to making you happy.
I am of the opinion that my life belongs to the whole community, and as long as I live it is my privilege to do for it whatever I can.
I want to be thoroughly used up when I die, for the harder I work the more I live. I rejoice in life for its own sake. Life is no “brief candle” for me. It is a sort of splendid torch which I have got hold of for the moment, and I want to make it burn as brightly as possible before handing it on to future generations.
