69% completion in such an important game, can't win with that

Too many errors

We were leading by 2, lots of possession on the Penrith line, repeat sets, but couldn't score. Game over. Hodgson tries to overplay every move.

It's a shame Cotric had his worst game today. Wighton his best

You really can't and shouldn't be letting the opposition put 20 on in the first half.

Wighton must be moved from fullback, possibly centre or let go for cap reasons.
Fullback. Jack is a god damn liability.

You can't let him go for cap reasons unless he has somewhere to go willing to pay him somewhere near what we will.

I think we've screwed the pooch with signing Jack for a while on spine money.

Not making top 8 is a fair reflection of our season and our talent pool. We have a good forward pack but our lack of cunning and guile in the halves cost us a finals birth. Unless we replace Sezer and find a half who can pull strings, force repeat sets and kick strategically we will continue to struggle.

Completion rate a telling difference between the teams today.
However I've said it before, our linespeed and Ruck control is putrid. A couple of times in that game, we kicked off and on the 5th tackle Cleary was kicking inside our half at about 38m line... how can we concede so many metres? How can we, and expect to win.
Our kicking game was putrid. Sezer kicks a 40/20, but apart from that, why is he and Austin putting in Pearce like, 'half hearted' mid field bombs? When do they ever work? Why is Austin even kicking at all? Sezer clearly can kick well to corners, so **** do it.

That game was a perfect metaphor for our entire season. Brief periods of hope followed by crushing disappointment.

Sorry troll. You picked the wrong game to single out Sezer. He wasn't even close to the problem today.

I was so confident we would get that win today, even with 2 minutes to go, I also thought we would beat Knights and Storm and go on a run deep into the finals.

Im gutted guys.

Any repeat sets today? Don't remember any...we suck inside the opposition 10 whether it's going for repeat sets or putting on a set play.

Most of the time when you score 22 points, that gives you breathing space and a win.

When you let the opposition put on 20 in the first half it just means you have to work so much harder just to catch up.

And there it is.

That there is the reason we lost today, no other reason.

If we'd just finished our sets once we got up 22-20 we would've cruised to an easy victory. Instead we ducked around like clowns and handed the game back to Penrith.

It wasn't Sezer's fault today. Seriously, how can we blame him for missing one on one tackles (resulting in 18 points) and dropped balls by Cotric, Boyd, Tapine, Papa etc.

It was a stupid tackle by Rapana on Mansour to give the penalty away that allowed Penrith up our end

In summary, we played stupid and we beat ourselves

And we did catch up and take the lead. They didn't re-score Mansour's points.

We dropped the ball numerous times in our own half and couldn't defend it.

The simple fact of the matter is that we suck. We were actually half decent if we are fair against Penrith. A few errors here and there cost us but it was the terrible stuff earlier in the season that has us here. We should never be in a position where a loss here cost us our season. Dare I say it if we had played better over the season we might not have been trying to force the issue so much today and would have played better. Despite the Dragons collapse early points are really important.

Stuart has no excuses for this year. We barely had an injury. We came in underdone for god knows what reason. The warning signs were there against the knights. Our players were pudgy and barely looked like they had an off season.

It just sucks that its another lost season. I don't really think we will win another premiership again lol

Unfortunately I don't have faith in Ricky and our squad to turn it around in 2018
Our problem all year has been completions, defence, line speed, and figuring what to do in the opposition's 20 metres. Stuart hasn't resolved this in 24 rounds
