It's old home week on The Greenhouse!

Post by greeneyed »

Are you missing in action?

Last week was de-lurker week... this week...

Image

What is old home week? In the USA, old home week is a reunion of a town's inhabitants... a custom which originated in the 19th century in New England. So if you ever lived in the town of, say, Wilmington, old home week is a celebration, where you return to your old home.

And that's what we're hoping all those members of The Greenhouse who have not posted in a while do! Come back to the old home... and post! Say hi right here! We miss you!

If you've forgotten you your password, send us an email at the.greenhouse.forum@gmail.com and we will do our best to restore your account. Or just register again as a member: Click the Register icon underneath The Greenhouse site banner and follow the prompts! ... on The Greenhouse this week.

Have you signed up to The Greenhouse, but not posted for a long time? We want to hear from you in this thread. The season is about to start, with the Canberra Raiders having their best prospects for success in a long time. Why wouldn't you want to be back posting?!

For those wondering what old home week is, this tells you more: http://thegh.com.au/forum/viewtopic.php ... 4#p1483244

And as an added incentive, we're launching a giveaway, courtesy of Idelic Cafe at Kingston... breakfast for two to the value of $50. This is how you win: http://thegh.com.au/forum/viewtopic.php?f=2&t=31711

... on The Greenhouse.

You know I've often thought The Greenhouse is a bit like your favourite bar. Sometimes you want to go where everybody knows your name... and they're always glad you came...

Too cheesy? No doubt. You can always come and have a bit of an argument if you'd prefer.

Sadly, we've not heard from some posters for quite a while. And that's what old home week is for... for posters who have not posted on The GH for a while to re-connect.

Whatever happened to thickos, mike83au Greenblooded and Quinny? Which of your favourite posters from the past would you love to hear from again?

And there's an extra reason to start posting again... members of The Greenhouse can win breakfast for two at Idelic Cafe, Kingston. They're big Raiders fans at Idelic.

Hi GH, I'm still alive. Heading to Canberra for the Broncos game, I've decided I'm going to be the good luck charm that gets the season back on track (even though I went the Sharks and Storm finals games last year).

Son, we live in a world that has forums, and those forums have to be guarded by Mods. Who's gonna do it? You? You, Nickman? I have a greater responsibility than you can possibly fathom. You weep for Lucy, and you curse GE. You have that luxury. You have the luxury of not knowing what I know -- that GE’s moderation, while tragic, probably saved lives; and my existence, while grotesque and incomprehensible to you, keeps threads on track and under the appropriately sized, highlighted green headings.
You want moderation because deep down in places you don't talk about at parties, you want me on that forum -- you need me on that forum. We use words like "stay on topic," "use the appropriate forum," "please delete." We use these words as the backbone of a life spent defending something. You use them as a punch line. I have neither the time nor the inclination to explain myself to a man who rises and sleeps under the blanket of the very moderation that I provide and then questions the manner in which I provide it. I would rather that you just said "thank you" and went on your way. Otherwise, I suggest you get a green handle and edit a post. Either way, I don't give a DAMN what you think about moderation.
