Gold Coast Titans Kane Elgey ready to move on from wretched 2016 ahead of comeback
A YEAR since a devastating knee injury stalled his career, Kane Elgey has now moved on from a disastrous 2016. He admitted he was nervous about returning to the Titans’ pre- season training from the Christmas break on Wednesday.
"Today’s a bit of a daunting day for me," Elgey said. "It’s been a tough year. But it’s back to normal now. It’s in the past and I’m ready to get back into it."

He looked like he was going to be a gun before his injury. Will be interesting to see how he goes now. It's hard for anyone to come back from an injury like that

Players to decide Hayne's Gold Coast Titans leadership role
Titans teammates will be the ones to decide whether superstar signing Jarryd Hayne features in the club's leadership group amid concerns surrounding his approach to training prior to the Christmas break.
"He's improving. He obviously did different training over in America where it's more power related and he's come here where it's more cardio, especially in pre-season," Kane Elgey said. "Everyone's pretty happy with him and come March when he's done a full pre-season hopefully he'll be back to where he was, or even better."

Daniel Vidot begins training with Gold Coast Titans
Former Canberra Raiders winger Daniel Vidot has begun training with the Gold Coast Titans but his contract to join the club is yet to be registered and ratified by the NRL.
With Kiwi international Kevin Proctor beginning training with his new club this week the imminent addition of Vidot leaves Gold Coast with just two remaining spots on their roster for 2017, with the club believed to be eyeing off a further outside back and an additional back-rower.

Jarryd Hayne to play at a lighter weight after request from Titans coach Neil Henry
Jarryd Hayne will return a leaner fullback in 2017 at the request of Gold Coast coach Neil Henry.
"He’s come back [from the USA] a bit heavy and we’re working on that," Henry said. "And he has dropped a couple of kilos so I think you will find that he will be four or five kilos lighter than he played last season with preparation."

Titans excited by effect Kevin Proctor could have on NRL premiership charge
KEVIN Proctor looms as the man who could finally deliver a winning NRL culture to Gold Coast.
"The culture down in Melbourne, it’s like a little family down there because no one was from Melbourne," Proctor said. "It was everyone was either from Queensland, New Zealand or NSW. “I think that’s why they’re all so tight down there and I’m looking forward to hopefully forming the same bond at the Gold Coast Titans."

Gold Coast Titans Kane Elgey honour helps to heal old wounds
Kane Elgey's honour of being named the Gold Coast Young Citizen of the Year is not only a great individual reward but a significant marker in the club winning back the support of the local community, according to club CEO Graham Annesley.
Nominated and presented with the award by none other than Gold Coast Mayor Tom Tate, Elgey was left stunned when it was announced he was the recipient, the award recognising his great contribution to the community while out for the entire 2016 season with a knee injury.

Gold Coast Titans recruit Kevin Proctor injured at training
GOLD Coast will monitor the knee of key recruit Kevin Proctor after an injury during training. Proctor was hobbling around the Titans’ club headquarters on Tuesday in a knee brace, however coach Neil Henry was confident there were no serious concerns.
"He got clipped at training (on Monday)," Henry said. "It’s not a serious injury, it’s not anything like an ACL that requires any surgery but he’s got some kind of strain or tear."

Lure of a premiership keeps James at Gold Coast Titans
He was forced to confront the mortality of Gold Coast as a club only a couple of years ago but local junior Ryan James can now see a premiership in the Titans' future and believes it could come sooner rather than later.
"The Gold Coast is where my heart is and I want to see this club succeed and take it to a premiership. To see this club at the lowest of all lows looking like it was going to get revoked to looking around now and seeing where we are in the middle of Parkwood with the best facilities in the NRL.

Gold Coast Titans aren’t concerned about Brisbane Broncos poaching Ashley Taylor, Kane Elgey
GOLD Coast say they will not be pushed into expediting a further contract extension to Ash Taylor or Kane Elgey by the reported departure of Ben Hunt to St George Illawarra in 2018.
“Ben Hunt is none of our business — that’s a Broncos issue, but both of our halves are contracted to the end of 2018," Graham Annesley said. "Ash Taylor had his contract extended (in September) to the end of 2018. Kane Elgey was extended around this time last year until the end of 2018 as well."

Maybe, but I'm beginning to wonder if the gloss has started to come off the Broncos.Ginga wrote: Does this sound naive to anyone else?
They have missed a number of recruitment targets recently, this has not happened in recent memory. Had some issues with the playing group (e.g Roberts and the rat), forcing out Parker might not of gone down well, poor 2016 by Bronco standards and Bennett just seems to be loosing the plot a bit.
Donkeys seem to be on the slide, I hope to christ I'm right
