When voting the realise how few forwards are eligible for the Indigenous Allstars.

Has been the case in top flight rugby league forever tbh.Northern Raider wrote:When voting the realise how few forwards are eligible for the Indigenous Allstars.
I **** hate this game so much. I know I carry on about it but it just stinks. In 2015 Wighton played about 50 minutes at **** lock, 4 weeks out from playing a season at fullback. Just roll out an indigenous academy side at the 9s or something to stop our premier players forced into playing a meaningless game in the middle of cricket season.
well, I guess you could say that I'm buy curious.

Re: All Stars 2017: Teams and Game Day
Back on topic, while I'm a fan of the concept I just think the indigenous game will eventually have its day. The thing is they keep beating the "All Stars" despite barely being able to scrape together a full 17! It's quite impressive.
Ultimately if the game promotes the sport and encourages Aboriginal and Torres Straight Islander kids to play the game, while also providing a positive influence on indigenous communities, it's almost impossible to be critical of the event. It certainly has a purpose.

Mal Meninga to coach World All Stars
Mal Meninga will coach the World All Stars team at the Harvey Norman Rugby League All Stars match in Newcastle on February 10. Meninga takes on the role after previous World All Stars coach Wayne Bennett expressed his desire earlier this year to step down from the coaching position to concentrate on his Brisbane Broncos and Rugby League World Cup commitments in 2017.
"I thought the concept of a World All Stars team was a terrific step forward for the match when it was introduced this year," Meninga said.

Re: All Stars 2017: Teams and Game Day
I'd pull Leilua out for "the niggle he has in his hamstring" that everyone gets this time of year.
not too concerned for the other 3 to stay in though.
- Wighton gets to play fullback, not the forwards
- Turner gets some NRL experience
- Sezer playing half off a 7 man bench shouldn't be too much of a workload.

It's more than likely the 4 nations and the fact that the boys will have only had 4 weeks back on the training paddock by the time they would be required in camp. Unacceptable risk of injury playing with such a limited build up.cat wrote:He is the main one that the clubs would release to playjulian87 wrote:Really not sure how Jordan Turner gets a gig in this game. I am also a big fan of Turner getting a run and Wighton starting at fullback. It will give me 2 good reasons to get to a pub in whichever country I am and watch.

This concept is one or two ACL injuries away from being scrapped.
When a few of the more influential indigenous players leave the game I don't think it will have the same support and will end up like CvC.

Canberra Raiders Jordan Turner joins Joey Leilua in World All Stars team
Canberra Raiders recruit Jordan Turner admits he didn't know what the NRL All Stars game was and his new Green Machine teammate Joey Leilua thought the exhibition fixture had been "canned".
"I didn't really know what the game was. I'd sort of heard of it, but I didn't know what the concept was or what it entailed," Turner said. "I've chatted to Aidan Sezer about it and he said it was a great occasion and I'm really looking forward to it.
"I didn't even know there was a game, I thought they canned it for this year, [but I'm] feeling excited," Leilua said.
