Re: 2016 Mounties
That's gotta hurt Fensom, Williams and Lima more than most. Two losses in two days. Two chances to possibly play on grand final day gooone!

Re: 2016 Mounties
Mounties didnt seem to get out of 2nd gear but still got within a point..
Cutters seemed to have all the quality ball.

Re: 2016 Mounties
He can look dangerous in attack if given good ball but for me he's very average, he has youth on his side but just cant see him being a 100 gamer.Northern Raider wrote:He went missing in the back end of the game. Was looking dangerous early on.Johno wrote:Brenkos shirt wont need to be washed
With his experience in first grade and his size he should have made a big impact today.
I thought Sammy played well, as did J Kennedy and Sorenson.
Re: 2016 Mounties
Game turned at that ridiculous lifting penalty on butters, had bugger all possession and field position after that. **** end to the year all round.

Re: 2016 Mounties
Disappointing weekend for all concerned. Mounties really should have put them away
But that's footy
Next year maybe we can aim for the double

Re: 2016 Mounties
Mounties had a horrible start but man for man looked a far better side. That match is a major missed opportunity for the Mounties club and the players representing it. There were parts of that 2nd half where they just needed to settle and complete sets any which way but they just didn't and it was terribly frustrating. I'm rarely ever bitterly disappointed with Sam but for the POTY he just didn't step up in that match like I expected. When the team was in trouble he needed to use his kicking game which is more than adequate at NRL level to turn Illawarra around and he just didn't. I was just waiting for it to happen for 30 odd minutes and it never came.
We continue to **** about with blokes that are part of some fraternity. It's infuriating.

NSW Cup: Canberra Raiders feeder Mounties fall by one point to Illawarra Cutters
Only the barest of margins could separate the NSW Cup's two best teams on the competition's biggest day.
It was the boot of Drew Hutchison that denied Canberra Raiders feeder club Mounties a premiership in the most heartbreaking fashion.
LLAWARRA CUTTERS 21 (Kalifa Faifai Loa 2, Levi Dodd, Kurt Mann tries; Dodd 2 goals; Drew Hutchison field goal) bt MOUNTIES 20 (Edward Aiono, Sam Duggan, Scott Sorensen, Zac Santo tries; Sam Williams 2 goals)

Illawarra Cutters defeat Mounties by a point in NSW Premiership Grand Final
The Illawarra Cutters have won the Intrust Super Premiership NSW Grand Final against Mounties at Pirtek Stadium after finishing tenth in 2015.
Adam Quinlan won man of the match, but it was a Drew Hutchison field goal that separated both teams in what was a 21-20 thriller.
Jason Demetriou has now been a part of three Grand Finals in a row, highlighting his incredible coaching credentials, and they will now take on the Burleigh Bears in the Intrust Super Championship next week as a curtain raiser for the NRL Grand Final.

Terrible start and terrible finish to that game. Great season from the Mounties, but they really choked when it mattered.
Re: 2016 Mounties
Well done to Mounties on a great year. I think they lost a fair bit when Ottio got injured and also had players like Vaughan playing and training up with our squad for longer.

Just noticed Maurice Kennedy from the Mounties will be playing at halfback for Fiji Bati against Toa Samoa. Congrats!

VIDEO: Zac Santo: 2016 ISP NSW Fullback of the Year
It was an extraordinary year for Zac Santo, with the Mounties custodian becoming one of the form players in the competition and helping his team to the minor premiership. While the season ended in heartbreaking fashion for the 23-year-old with a grand final defeat to the Cutters, he was named the best no.1 in the Intrust Super Premiership NSW. It was a hotly-contested position and Santo beat out the likes of Honeti Tuha and Illawarra's Adam Quinlan, who was Man Of The Match in the decider.

VIDEO: Kato Ottio 2016 ISP NSW Winger of the Year
With 29 tries in 23 games, Ottio’s try-scoring feats this season speak for themselves. The Papua New Guinea volleyball-turned-Rugby League star was the best outside back in the competition prior to an ACL injury in the first qualifying final, which unfortunately ended his season. His 3,386 metres put him at second in this category, largely thanks to his 22 line-breaks and 99 tackle-breaks – the highest and third-highest individual tallies respectively.

VIDEO: Sam Williams 2016 ISP NSW Half back of the Year
As the 2016 Intrust Super Premiership NSW Player Of The Year, Williams was an automatic selection at halfback and as captain.
Williams was the key factor in not only Mounties’ Preliminary Final win over the Wests Tigers, but in nearly every game he played at Intrust Super Premiership NSW level this year.

VIDEO: Jarrad Kennedy 2016 ISP NSW Second Rower of the Year
Heading up the exceptional second row of Mounties - arguably the most effective in the competition - Jarrad Kennedy cemented himself as a workhorse this season.
A tally of 773 tackles - second in the competition - and a club-high 223 hit-ups confirm Kennedy as a key part of Mounties' side this year. With abilities in attack and defence that are obviously up to NRL standard, it is almost a shame that Kennedy wasn't required by the Raiders in 2016, but having taken his side to the grand final he will hope to go one better next season.

NSW ISP 2016 Season Review: Mounties
Ladder position: 1st (grand final runners-up)
Competition points: 44
Points scored (including finals): 609
Points conceded (including finals): 453
Little can be said about Mounties’ season that hasn’t already been said, but upon looking through all the come-from-behind wins and dominant performances one thing becomes very clear: the minor premiers will be nothing but disappointed with how their season finished.
Four losses throughout the entire year is an extraordinary effort and from kick-off in the first game of the season, it was always obvious that Mounties were the team to beat. Four inclusions in the Team Of The Year – as well as the Assistant Coach position – had the men from Mount Pritchard well and truly on top of their game in 2016, completing an outstanding club record with minor premierships in the Sydney Shield, Ron Massey Cup and Intrust Super Premiership NSW. The trio of teams then continued their form to feature in all three NSWRL Grand Finals, with hopes of creating history in all three grades.
