Re: 2017 Holden Cup
He's a fullback for anyone interested:
"The fullback scored four tries during one of his games in the Country tour to Western Australia."
Be very interesting to see if that's where he plays next year given how well Harry Van Dartel has been playing (made the under 17s NSW squad) and how well Cotric has played for the Australian school boys at fullback.

Re: 2017 Holden Cup squad
Something along these lines:
1. Harry Van Dartel
2. Andre Niko
3. Sebastian Kris
4. Nic Cotric
5. Sam Bramich
6. Bailey Hartwig
7. Logan Spaander
8. William Samuel
9. ?? (Jesse Martin)
10. Emre Guler
11. Kalani Going
12. Jack Murchie
13. Kye Madden
14. Sato Ketia-Opo
15. Jarred Tuite
16. Sione Afemui
17. Fabian Paletua-Kiri
The hooking role is really up for grabs. Woolford leaves a massive hole.
I'd expect to see Hartwig either move into the 6 or stay in the 14. If he isn't in the 6 maybe Lachlan Cooper gets a call up.

Re: 2017 Holden Cup squad
Thomas Cronan now over age too. Haven't heard anything about the Raiders picking him up... he's posted this highlights reel.
Daniel Dole - now over age, has been signed by the Raiders.
Chevi Ellis, Jack Hickson, Jack Williams - now over age.
Tre Williams, Kody Parsons - not over age, but not in the squad, been playing Canberra Cup.

Re: 2017 Holden Cup squad
Great hightlights package. He's unlucky to have had a few injuries this year.
Jack Williams reportedly going to the sharks.
Hickson I never thought was big enough to land a raiders gig. Not on the wing anyway.
Ellis' form really took a nose dive.
I'm looking forward to seeing Harry Van Dartel. He's shown some of the same qualities as Cronan in that highlight video and he's only 18 at the moment. Going to be destroying sides when he's max age.

Should this be merged or the other 2017 thread deleted?
Watch for hooker Quinlyn Cannon to surprise a few.

This info was in an earlier thread - not sure if it means the players listed at the bottom are signed with Mounties or Raiders but looks like they'll still be around.greeneyed wrote:Canberra have also signed...
Canterbury front-rower Makahesi Makatoa
Daniel Dole (NYC graduate)
Zac Santo - one year deal for 2017
Scott Sorensen
Brent Naden
Zeik Foster, Thomas Cronan, Connor Cheeseman... to work with NRL squad... but go back to Mounties.

NRL Holden Cup under-20s competition to end in season 2017
THE NRL’s under-20s competition will be scrapped at the end of next year, Australian Rugby League Commission chairman John Grant has confirmed.
Instead, statewide under-20s competitions will be rolled out in NSW and Queensland, while the NSW and Queensland Cups will be expanded to take on an “elevated” role in rugby league’s development pathway, Grant said.
"They’ll be more on television, there’s going to be more clubs in the competition and there’s going to be stronger connections through to the NRL clubs."

Re: 2017 Holden Cup
By the looks it'll be a short season as with junior reps, so expect it would be concurrent with those games. And hopefully a Raiders team.
It's going to mean we end up with one game on game day, unfortunately, which has always been the end game for a lot of clubs. They want to be franchises and run one team.

Re: 2017 Canberra Raiders junior representatives
Reportedly the NYC team is also playing a trial against the Wests Tigers at Camden on Saturday if you're around that way. Don't have a time. Assume it'd be Kirkham Oval. Might think about a trip there this Saturday if I can find a time! Bit closer than Wagga and better road.
Re: 2017 Canberra Raiders junior representatives
Not a lot wrong with the road to Wagga. 2/3rds of it is the Hume Highway and then the least 40 mins of it is only single lane but a good road. The ground is the right side of town too for us.greeneyed wrote:Reportedly the NYC team is also playing a trial against the Wests Tigers at Camden on Saturday if you're around that way. Thanks very much for this. I think I'll do a trip to Camden if the weather clears up.

Welcome to our coverage of today's Holden Cup trial between the Canberra Raiders and the Wests Tigers from Kirkham Oval Camden. Very interesting ground, and you can sit in your car on the sideline and watch the match. Oh can see video and pics on our Twitter and Instagram.
We have scheduled kick off at 11am, but neither team has yet started the warm up so it could be a little later.
We will have more pics on Twitter, Facebook and Instagram soon when the teams start the warm up.
