2016 US Elections
Thought we should have separate thread from the main politics one.
Long, Long, Long way to go..

Are you authorised to start threads?
Son, we live in a world that has forums, and those forums have to be guarded by Mods. Who's gonna do it? You? You, Nickman? I have a greater responsibility than you can possibly fathom. You weep for Lucy, and you curse GE. You have that luxury. You have the luxury of not knowing what I know -- that GE’s moderation, while tragic, probably saved lives; and my existence, while grotesque and incomprehensible to you, keeps threads on track and under the appropriately sized, highlighted green headings.
You want moderation because deep down in places you don't talk about at parties, you want me on that forum -- you need me on that forum. We use words like "stay on topic," "use the appropriate forum," "please delete." We use these words as the backbone of a life spent defending something. You use them as a punch line. I have neither the time nor the inclination to explain myself to a man who rises and sleeps under the blanket of the very moderation that I provide and then questions the manner in which I provide it. I would rather that you just said "thank you" and went on your way. Otherwise, I suggest you get a green handle and edit a post. Either way, I don't give a DAMN what you think about moderation.

Trump will be the Republican candidate.

Re: 2016 US Elections
I can't see Trump being beaten either so whilst the campaign will be fun to watch this time next year the leader of the free world will either be a 2 faced, power hungry narcissist with highly questionable ethics or Donald Trump.
Re: 2016 US Elections
Probably, though I don't think Rubio is out of it just yet
But I think the Generals point is it doesn't matter who wins the GOP, they'll get wiped out in the general election by (probably) Hilary

Don't discount the ability of the Dems to self destruct with an unelectable Sanders candidacy.Pigman wrote:Probably, though I don't think Rubio is out of it just yet

Even if Clinton gets up, her horrendous campaigning skills will be a pretty stark constrast to our reality TV star.
There is a real chance that Trump could be in the White House next year.

Re: 2016 US Elections
I think the real hope for the Presidential Election is people turning out to not vote for Trump rather than Hillary getting people motivated to work..
If Trump doubles down and makes Palin the VP this will happen even more.

Well there's one Republican that would vote for Clinton over Trump.

Re: 2016 US Elections
The other side of it is this... Are we sure the Donald actually wants this job? He spent a lot of time there seemingly trying to sabotage his own campaign
I mean he's a wildcard, he could do anything at this point and it wouldn't shock me. Including pulling out of the race on the eve of nomination

I think it started off as a joke until he saw he was still leading after a few months so stuck with it.
Re: 2016 US Elections
I think we need a quick recap of some of Trump's messages this campaign.
*Build a wall across Mexico.
*Make Mexico pay for that wall
*Ban Muslims from America.
*Call Mexicans a bunch of Rapist
*Deport 12 Million "illegals'
*Remove all gun free zones, including schools
*Get to ISIS buy killing their families.
*Say there'll be no state dinners for Chinese President, he'll buy him Maccas
*Say he could shoot someone in the street and not lose a vote
*Bring back waterboarding
*Insult the Pope
*Claim at least one of his opponents isn't eligible to run for President
Did I miss anything??

Re: 2016 US Elections
I am interested to see how significant the blowback against Hillary will be if she wins the nomination. A lot of centre left people despise Clinton.
Re: 2016 US Elections
I am surprised there are people outside of america who supports the D Trump.
The guy wants to bar all muslims from entering the country. That in itself should be ridiculous enough not to support him regardless of his thoughts on other areas of policy.

The issue in this whole campaign is going to be just how many people can be bothered getting out of bed on the Tuesday following the first Monday in November.Green eyed Mick wrote:I am interested to see how significant the blowback against Hillary will be if she wins the nomination. If it's Trump v Clinton, his best hope is that everyone stays up late the night before and sleeps in. She's going to have to somehow - SOMEHOW - convince people she's worth going out in the snow to vote for.
